We can agree to disagree on this one. I think the current end zones are about as generic as could be.
Could an Indoor Practice Facility be coming Nov ‘23? Stay tuned...
TD's two big announcments coming soon
1- The end zones will have "NOLA BUILT" printed in the north end zone and "504" in the south end zone
2- The IPF will be built on top of the new Tennis Courts

To those that haven't been able to listen this is what was said:
They are currently spending $40-$50 million on on-going projects. He started with $13 million being spent on the pool in Reily for the swimming program. He then noted the $8 million being spent on the locker room and sports medicine area of the Wilson Center. He said volleyball is getting a new volleyball specific floor for next season. Football and baseball stadiums are getting new turf. As to the IPF he said it will be either a bubble on Brown Field or a more permanent structure on Mintz Field. He said either way there would be running lanes for track and a golf simulator for the golf team
No mention at all of a football ops. building which is the number one need for athletics. If we are trying to get a P5 invite we need a legit one. I think some are still confused as to the the difference between an IPF and a football ops. center. A IPF will just be for practices. A football ops. center has a modern locker room, positionail meeting rooms, coaches offices, theatre style squad room. sports medicine area , players lounge and enough room for what a modern D-1 football staff encompasses.
As to the IPF plans it will be a short field bubble on Brown or permanent type structure on Mintz. If it's on Mintz changes will need to be made to the baseball stadium. Currently that is a short field and unless they plan on knocking out part of Wilson where they have the weight room it will be a short field . The real problem is that as is it can only be used for linemen drills and used by kickers. The reason it can't be scrimmaged on is that the fence on the sideline by the baseball stadium is pressed up too close to that sideline to allow scrimmaging. He did say they had architects and engineers looking at it so we'll see.

He did raise funds. They’re about to announce the 2nd largest donation to athletics. And the locker room is $5M. Try another shtick.nawlinspete wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 5:16 pm Edit :

I'd rather Berger. It's a bigger footprint and we could utilize Mintz as a groundbreaking for the football ops building. Could actually make it 1st class looking over the stadium.

I meant to mention him saying that the new donors funds have been used in part in the on-going projects. He said the donation will be announced this month.

I guess that means the tennis courts will be indoors? How common is that in college sports to have the competitive courts indoors?

He did mention that a few times in different terms. If he thinks there's a lot of "noise" here critical of his efforts, he'll be shocked if/when he moves to a PEE program.
The announcement about the big donor is something I'm looking forward to. Congrats to him if he put it all together. I hope we are starting to build a new generation of Tulane benefactors as the age of the long-time donors is concerning.

So it looks like none of this is true.

looks like all of that "Athletic dept insider info" I was given, was wrong

Promised to be operational by the end of November there should already be excavation , drainage , footings , electrical and all other necessaries underway already .

Absolutely not a shovelful of groundbreaking has occurred .
On the contrary we are being told there is nowhere on campus it will fit .
How the hell are we going to get other facilities upgrades done if there is no where to build new tennis courts , a Football Ops building , a new basketball arena and more .
And will any of this even be necessary with the new P3 conferences not the least bit interested in us ?

As someone previously suggested: Move baseball off campus. Plenty of room for everything needed! Football $ will rule ..baseball has become secondary!
