Schools have now figured out a way to use NIL money instead of granting athletic scholarships to build roster depth. . So now many of the wealthy NIL programs are able to stack their rosters with this work-around. They pay NIL money that would equal an athletic scholarship and give the scholarship to #86, 87, 88 etc that allows additional roster spots without going above the 85 scholarship limit .

In my opinion it’s now time for the NCAA to reduce the 85-scholarship limit and give additional scholarships to the other sports that are not fully funded. Of course high tuition schools like Tulane will still struggle to equate NIL to tuition.

At many programs, players are receiving NIL as a way of going above the NCAA scholarship limit of 85 per team. It’s a way to have a deeper roster and keep veteran players around.

If you’re at 85 and they’re good enough,” Rhule said, “85 is probably enough. But I think 95 is probably a little better.”

Wasserman: The transfer portal is here to stay, so here's how you can embrace it
Nebraska added multiple recruits in its 2024 class who accepted NIL deals to cover the equivalent of a scholarship.

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

And now we know why Dannen jilted Washington . Wonder how big his check was ? And he found another place where he will not have to raise a finger to raise money .

I didn’t realize the NCAA had that kind of dough.

They don't. A massive amount of that will come from member institutions - like Tulane.

That’s what I thought but it states in the future yes but I’m not sure about the past.
The NCAA's national office might be footing the bill for a settlement expected to be more than $2.7 billion in the landmark House v. NCAA lawsuit and other related antitrust cases, in hopes of reshaping and stabilizing the college sports industry, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Interesting. Even in a scenario where that $2.7B would come from the NCAA, the NCAA would be counting those amounts against amounts that it gives schools - such as the NCAA tournament units - as the NCAA does not have nearly that much money.

The NCAA is a totally corrupt entity and their greed has destroyed sport. Sad but true.

Aresco is point person #1. He has generated nothing and collected a massive salary. Just a bunch of nobodies collecting on the backs of others.
Mike aresco has no idea what it is like to be a real “student athlete”. Like most here.

Troy Dannen is the perfect example of greed. He whore’s himself out and actually gets unlimited raises for being a scumbag and moving from one job to the next. If Dannen fails at Nebraska he will just ingratiate himself to the next job. And he knows it.

Ron Hunter is 70-74 and 35-53 in conference at Tulane and he has a job paying well over a million per year for five years. Let that sink in.
Yup Ron Hunter is a multi millionaire for his “efforts” at being below average by every metric
