Athlon names him one of the top 20 QB's on the rise:
May he stay healthy and reach his full potential. If so it will be fun to watch.

Or had the coach mention how gorgeous he throws.

Pratt really did a good job of managing the game, including Fritz' innate conservatism whenever we get any kind of a lead. No turnovers and some really good downfield passing. And the WRs finally helped him. Hopefully Tyrick James will return, as he's the only TE we got that can catch the ball.

Out of 28 completions including the one by the backup QB, 22 were to WRs, 3 to TE James, and 3 to RBs.

And at least two of his incompletions were drops by our other TEs.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 6:29 pm Out of 28 completions including the one by the backup QB, 22 were to WRs, 3 to TE James, and 3 to RBs.

Only Mrs Horton disagrees.

Certainly no one disagrees with that, he was once again shaking his arm and at one point Kai was warming up. Like a star pitcher not allowing his arm needed rest sometimes will destroy his future. I pray he makes the season but at some point, don't be surprised if his arm gives out. If it does, we are in good hands. He threw very well except for a few at the receiver's feet some indication he may feel a tightness at times. One time during a timeout he was throwing to keep his arm loose indicating a muscle or tendon tightening. Will tighten up on him tomorrow, will need week to week rest and gradually throwing and loosening to game day from here on. Hot Epsom salts soaks will loosen the tightness absorbing the magnesium into the muscle or tendon. Works when I pull a calf or hamstring. Roll Wave!!!
7 incompletions, including 2 drops by the TE and one of those passes at the feet of the slot receiver was supposed to be a 7yrd square in but the receiver ran 15 yards. I also believe Tyjae dropped a swing pass out the backfield.

ECU came in prepared to stop the run and make us throw. They may have been expecting Horton and you always make the young less experienced kid beat you. Pratt answered though. I personally think Pratt still has a ways to go with reads and progressions but he showed much more this week. It helps that they played the run and showed their coverage fairly early. He needs to learn to throw away though. That is one reason he takes an additional 2-4 hits per week. Also, there were some pass packages that are head scratchers. Ran a play twice where James was the check down on one sideline and the 2 (only 2 wrs) were running high low on the other sideline. That is never going to work for us with our protection.
Overall, we needed to show that we can throw it if they sellout to the run. Having Keys back is impactful. Great win and a good performance by Pratt. Just dont make mistakes and our defense will put us in great situations.

Pratt had his best game possibly since last season's opener at OU. He finally let it rip and made some big throws especially since ECU were constantly stacking the line. He doesn't have to be the best QB in the conference since we have the best defense and very good skilled players, but he just needs to continue to make plays and avoid brutal hits to stay on the field,

4. Michael Pratt (Tulane): Pratt led Tulane to a 12-win season, an AAC championship and a Cotton Bowl win against USC. He, too, had Power 5 interest but decided to remain at Tulane. His numbers have improved steadily each year, accounting for 37 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2022, and he heads into his fourth season as the starter.

WWL website has story quoting Brett McMurphy reporting Michael will not play in the Military Bowl and will begin preparation for the Senior Bowl & NFL draft. He further reports either Kai Horton or Justin Ibieta will start.
