We definitely knocked Memphis out of the top 25. They won’t be ranked after losing to USF and Tulane this week.

Great win! Electric atmosphere, but way to many Memphis fans. They definitely travel well, but they shouldn't be 1/4 of the attendance.

We now have beaten Memphis 3 of the last 4. We have the athleticism to beat those guys.

Great win!

Dandridge was impressive and played a great game.

Lots of pressure on the refs with how physical the game was and on calling blocks clean or foul almost every time down the floor.

Thought Holloway had a really good game again, definitely responded well to how physical the game was. James had a great second half.

Jan 11, 1983, we beat Memphis at Fogelman, 49-47. Vintage Ned Fowler game.

I heard 1983 and I figured it was the Louisville game.

Was that the game when Gary Moreau drained the last second jump shot?

Actually, the game was Feb 12, 1983 when we beat then #9 Memphis.

We had stretch of six games where 5 of the opponents were ranked, and we went 3-2 against the ranked teams. (Loss to UNO mixed in)

Jan 17, 1983 L 55-63 vs Louisville #9
Jan 22, 1983 W 64-45 vs Virginia Tech #17
Jan 29, 1983 L 71-75 vs New Orleans in Superdome (If I remember correctly, that was a 2 OT game)
Feb 5, 1983 W 58-56 @ Memphis #4
Feb 9, 1983 L 56-73 @ Louisville #11
Feb 12, 1983 W 49-47 vs Memphis #9

Possibly. He was the leading scorer with 12 points.

We also beat Florida State twice, Cincinnati 3x, and Michigan State, and lost to North Carolina 70-68 in 3 OTs at NC.

Yes. I watched it. Was one of those games that they let USF hang around all night. In Memphis also.
We will pay the price on Sunday. They will probably run us out of the gym, like they did at the end of last season.

tpstulane wrote: Sun Jan 21, 2024 3:01 pm I felt good about this one. Memphis was beatable and we took care of business on our home court today.
Now if Hunter would only start scheduling better non -conference games we could pack the gym again.
Very true. We seem to play up or down to our competition. A strong non-conference schedule would likely motivate our team, and definitely pack Devin.

Just playing the odds of our poorly coached team and last embarrassing outing against Memphis. You’re obviously easily suckered by one game. Watch how the rest of the season plays out. You can go back to lurking now.

Yes. We have the talent to compete now. Need to schedule to prepare for post season.

Darryl it is. Gary only exists in my cobwebs. I was at that game. The gym was so packed that many men were having to cross Freret and take a leak in the bushes along Percival Stern Hall.

I remember a game against Memphis where Mardi Gras beads came raining down. Was that the Perry Clark era?

That was the Fowler era. Once Tulane scored their first points to start Mardi Gras season, the students rained beads onypto the court. I can still see Keith Lee ducking the beads pouring down.

The second or third year that we did this, we knew we'd get a technical foul and did it anyway! It was a pretty amazing sight to see beads coming from all directions onto the court.
