Are we trying to pimp N.O., to attract conference interest, kind of like what SMU has done with it's recent "Dallas" campaign? I'm not sure the 504 approach will work since schools have been advertising their area codes for about a decade now, and many "outsiders" watching Tulane may not even know or care what 504 represents.

The players care. If you know one ask them how they felt the love from the 504 after this last season.

most have "area codes" on the front of the helmet... @ one school each player may have a different area code on the helmet, denoting the area code from where the he played high school ball....

When on the front, it's usually on the front tab of the helmet and therefore hard to see. Some schools like Memphis put them on one or both sides of their helmets for some games.
