I liked the Tourneys where everyone plays the first day….
I guess those days are long gone in most conferences.

Although most conferences have byes, it makes sense for 1 bid conferences. Only the tournament winner is getting in, so the teams that did well in the regular season should have an advantage.Tulane1111 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 10:10 pm I liked the Tourneys where everyone plays the first day….

Yes that double bye is really something else!, basically two separate tourneys, have to play the first one and win some games to get into the 2nd one….

Weak schedule and the 7-4 non-conference record sealed our fate early on. Hopefully coach learned from this big mistake.winwave wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:33 pm NIT is a long shot:

Didn’t take a genius to know this:
The tool the selection committee uses to fill out the field for both tournaments is hurt by a non-conference strength of schedule ranked 284th.

If we had 12 teams instead of 11, we wouldn't have that double bye. You would have 4 byes and the other 8 would play for the other 4 spots.Tulane1111 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:15 pm Yes that double bye is really something else!, basically two separate, have to play the first won and win some games to get into the 2nd one….

Again, to a certain extent I understand it. Why should a team that has been terrible all year get the same path as a team that has dominated? Double bye is a bit much.DfromCT wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 5:53 pmThe ACC has 4 teams getting a double bye!anEngineer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 05, 2023 10:33 pmAlthough most conferences have byes, it makes sense for 1 bid conferences. People are misunderstanding the term "double bye". No one is getting byes in two rounds. It just means both teams in a second round game got a bye in the first round.

It seems we play really well in the 2nd half and at the end of games with our capable scorers and not too dependent on hitting the 3
every night…. We win with Steals & low TO’s, this could translate well in a March tourney.

No, you're wrong Robert. Or more accurately, you confused a discussion about the ACC bracket with the AAC bracket. The ACC has 4 teams getting a double bye. Yes, those four teams will play teams that have already won 2 games to earn the right to play them.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 9:04 pm People are misunderstanding the term "double bye". They schedule non conference well.
Doesn’t take a genius to get the NET up. Play road games at P5’s and win a few. (See Memphis)
Stadiums get old, winning never does.

Tulane Class of 1981
1 - Houston
14 - FAU
31 - Memphis
38 - UNT
52 - UAB
68 - Cincy
73 - UCF
100 - Tulane
110 - Wichita
115 - Charlotte
127 - Temple
Keeping Hunter, May at FAU, McCasland at UNT, Kennedy at UAB is gonna be pivotal to keep this league at least a 2 bid league. Getting Wichita and Temple back up in the top 60 would really help brand recognition.
Brian Gregory out at USF

Seems the administration realizes this maybe the last opportunity to join the P5, firing football and basketball coaches, moving forward with their new stadium, opening an IPF.
A strong USF is very good for the AAC.

Will be very interesting to see the schedule next year. After 4 years, he's done a good job turning the team around and competing for the top of the conference. It's time to take it up a notch and actually punch a ticket to March Madness.tpstulane wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 7:48 pmWeak schedule and the 7-4 non-conference record sealed our fate early on. Didn’t take a genius to know this:The tool the selection committee uses to fill out the field for both tournaments is hurt by a non-conference strength of schedule ranked 284th.
I think outside of Nevada, every single OOC team ended up 150+ in NET. Many in 250+ territory. That's quite bad with Tulsa (323), SMU (209), ECU (187), USF (160) accounting for 8 games already.
Just play Memphis’ non-conference schedule. That’s a nice schedule and fan friendly.Ruski wrote: ↑Sat Mar 11, 2023 7:44 amWill be very interesting to see the schedule next year. We are better than Memphis but because they scheduled better they will be rewarded and go to the big dance. Hopefully we beat them for the 3rd time today.
