Since we've known for weeks that Slade Nagle is now the OC, this should come as no surprise.

Look Nagle has been with Willies's sorry offenses for years, what changed last season was Jim Svoboda, if Nagle was so good why didn't he step up before. Does anyone know the real story, Pratt bragged on Svoboda all season and never mentioned Nagle, so don['t give me that crap that Nagle was the man!!! Looks like Willie rewarded loyalty that is it!!! Plus Svoboda had experience coaching quarterbacks, Nagle has none!!!
Just hope Hester stays he and Svoboda were the changes that mattered this season.

The offense that was being run all year was Nagle's. It was kind of worked out in spring that Nagle's offensive ideas would be more productive.. Svoboda was already here and listed as OC so they all just dealt with it. Once we all saw the result through the year, Nagle was named OC. To think that Coach Fritz was just rewarding a friend and running off a valuable coach after we all saw this year's results is just asinine.
Facts: Tulane coach Willie Fritz hired Svoboda for what happens between Sunday and Friday as much as what occurs on game day. The idea: Calls are important, but getting the players in position to execute anything they are asked to do is even more significant.anEngineer wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 11:22 pm The offense that was being run all year was Nagle's. More facts: “He has been game-planning for a long time,” Fritz said. “There really isn’t much he hasn’t seen.”
Svoboda’s ability to teach has helped quarterback Michael Pratt, whose head had to be spinning when he was introduced to his third coordinator in three years.
“He’s a really good coach,” Pratt said. “He doesn’t try to make things too complex. I would hate to say our offense is simple because it’s not, but he does a really good job of not trying to over-coach things. He’s very consistent.”
“We want everything to be delivered as timely as possible with our progressions,” Svoboda said. “It’s not dropping back and throwing down the field every play. It’s mainly staying out of third-and-long.”
Talk about asinine, you honestly believe that Nagles ideas just surfaced in the Spring after 7 years coaching the tight ends. Explain to all of us where has Nagle been for 7 years. Nagle is not a Quarterback Coach that worked with Pratt and the receivers. Anyone can call plays, not everyone can coach players up. Develop players to run those plays. Player development is a priority for good coaches., Elaborate please!!! My info came from both Coach Fritz and Pratt's mouths, so Nagle called plays according to Coach Fritz that is not as important as what happens Monday to Friday. This site has been complaining for years that we need a Quarterback Coach as Offensive Coordinator, who will develop our young quarterbacks moving forward, that person is not Nagle, Is Willie going to bring in a Quarterback Coach moving forward???
Current coaching on Green Wave site removes Svoboda but has not shown Nagles ;promotion???

gbg. FACT: Nagle was promoted two or three weeks ago. FACT: We all read that Nagle was the defacto OC last season in the article posted here and elsewhere. Fact: Fritz didn't announce Nagle's title promotion while Svoboda was still here. Speculation: Fritz, being an honorable man, let Svoboda look for a job before he let him go, as jobs dried up Svoboda did the honorable thing and resigned, or took a severance check as the team was moving forward without him.
Do you really have a better handle on who runs our offense than Willie Fritz does?
We can thank Coach Svoboda for the job he did here and move on.

It's a strange situation. Guerry Smith said he sits next to the coaches booth in the press box and Svoboda had the headset on and was calling plays in. Pratt loved Svoboda and so did the other offensive players. They all affectionately called him Boda and they called the offense Boda's on multiple occasions. Then late in the season we even had an article where the offensive players said they all went to Wyatt as soon as Boda got hired so they could learn the offense from him. Never once did a player mention Nagle . Plus Nagle's been here 7 years and been a part of some bad offenses but now he's the brains? Boda is gone and Nagle is here so obviously there is something to it. Make no mistake though losing Boda is a big loss to the team. Naghavi leaving has nothing to do with Nagle and everything to do with money and P5 status. He is also the co-OC at Houston.

What makes it stranger is Nagle getting promoted before Coach Boda left. That and the article about Nagle taking over after the Spring game. Someday, maybe, we will know!winwave wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 9:31 am It's a strange situation. December article posted here explains.
But on the field in spring ball, Fritz wasn’t seeing what he needed from Pratt and the offense. He split up squads for the spring game — Svoboda led one grouping and tight ends coach Slade Nagle led the other. By this time, Nagle was the only holdover from Long’s contingent and had been with Fritz for seven seasons. And Fritz saw enough on one side to warrant a drastic change in the operating system of the offense. Conversations with Nagle began to emerge regarding a shift to him controlling the offense.
In July, Fritz turned the keys to his offense over to Nagle, a tight ends coach with no prior coordinator experience, multiple sources with knowledge of the operation confirmed.

As I've said before the spring game thing is made up. There weren't 2 different offenses run. Neither was impressive. Fritz complained about the process of the teams being drafted just days before. So practically no time to install a a different offense.

This thing a out comparing the 2 offenses has been stated and confirmed and makes sense when you see where we are now. Some just refuse to believe it, for whatever reason. It's typical on this site and will eventually lead to drawn out insults.
Think most people forget or don't know is that Coach Svoboda, almost died of cancer and is a survivor, could be his pull to go back close to home and family and have nothing to do with his coaching. I make it a point to know details and talk from facts not opinions just want to clear some things up.
MSU aide Svoboda back on field after cancer treatment
Jun 2, 2009 · Svoboda underwent surgery May 19 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. MSU coach Rob Ash said Svoboda is with family and friends in the Midwest and …
Coach Svoboda has covered his battle up and subscriptions are needed to view details of these articles. but he stepped away from coaching to battle the cancer and survived. Instead of denying his influence and coaching of our offense and Pratt in particular, I believe Green Wave Nation should praise him and thank him for all he has done. Remember when a team turns around, ask yourself what has changed not what is the same!!! Prayers for Coach Svoboda moving forward and may the lord protect him from the cancer returning.

We're you at the spring game? If so did you see 2 different offenses run? Do you really believe a whole other offense could be put in place and run efficiently in a matter of days of a team just drafted?anEngineer wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 2:52 pm This thing a out comparing the 2 offenses has been stated and confirmed and makes sense when you see where we are now. I was at the game and they didn't run 2 different offenses and neither side performed well on offense. I'll add to what I posted above that the only named source in that story was former WR coach Conway who was bitter about being forced out because Svoboda insisted that McMenamin be hired.
Instead of giving a reasoned response to all the points I made you come and attack as usual. all you do is come here to complain about the site but never offer anything of substance to the conversation.

I don't see anything in that article tps referred to that says they ran TWO DIFFERENT OFFENSES in the spring game. But two DIFFERENT people CALLING the SAME plays, each with a different philosophy would give Fritz the info he needed. A play could turn out to be an incomplete pass, or a RB trip. Fritz is smart enough to look at film and realize if the play CALL was correct.

I don't see why it matters anymore. Coach Boda was not hired away, so clearly, Coach Fritz had the option to keep things as they were and chose not to. Given the success of our offense through the season, I trust that Coach Fritz knows better how to maintain that than anyone on this site.
That's not what was being discussed. What was discussed was the claim of the spring game being where it originated from. It's a fan forum. We discuss those things. As to the offense it got good when Tyjae got healthy and got going around mid season. It will be interesting to see how it goes next season without him.

He talks about drastic change in the operating system. The article talks about different blocking schemes and the like. Maybe you should learn to know what you're talking about before taking a shot.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 9:35 pm I don't see anything in that article tps referred to that says they ran TWO DIFFERENT OFFENSES in the spring game. So according the the so-called article Nagle must have run the offense for Horton because he beat Pratt 21-0, lollllltpstulane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:08 pm December article posted here explains. But on the field in spring ball, Fritz wasn’t seeing what he needed from Pratt and the offense. I was at the Spring game did not see Nagle running anything!!!
Totally dumb reasoning as we have seen Willie does not make quick decisions took him years to move on from his original offenses. So what fool believes Willie made such an irrational decision after the Spring Game. I will never believe that!!! "Prayers" that we don't find out later that the reasoning for Svoboda's exit hasn't come from health reasoning which Willie would never disclose as the reason, he would keep Svoboda's information under wraps.tpstulane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 28, 2023 12:08 pm December article posted here explains. But on the field in spring ball, Fritz wasn’t seeing what he needed from Pratt and the offense.
