What were the original specifications/renderings for Yulman Stadium v.1?
How compatible were the original specs for West & North side expansion?
How plausible is an inflatable/retractable structure?

My understanding is that west expansion is not possible with the way the structure on that side was built, but the original model showed 3 levels on the east side. With that model, there will never be another deck on the west side, and it will never be a roof because the sides will never be the same level. IT AIN'T HAPPENING, no matter how many on this site grouse about it.

I read somewhere (maybe here?) that when the modifications were made to the original plans, the structure was built with the ability to add the second deck to the West side. All of the supporting infrastructure is there. An Engineer or Architect would know by looking at the original and modified plans. Did THIS engineer do so or has he learned directly from someone involved in building the stadium?anEngineer wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 8:55 pmMy understanding is that west expansion is not possible with the way the structure on that side was built, but the original model showed 3 levels on the east side. Anything is possible after looking at the structure supporting AT&T retractable roof, thick beamlike structures that go into the parking areas. Those beams carry most of the weight of the roof. One has to believe looking at the Press Box that it was meant to be temporary until the addition to the West side. Only thing in Yulman that looks substandard!!!DfromCT wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 5:58 amI read somewhere (maybe here?) that when the modifications were made to the original plans, the structure was built with the ability to add the second deck to the West side. A current member of our booster club was a structural engineer on the build. According to him all the pilings were built such as to allow for expansion including an upper deck on the East side. The triple deck West side expansion talk was out there to appease NIMBY’s. That’s also possible but would be an even more horrible look. Any expansion should be done in the end zones and another deck on the East side.

I think you have your east and west sides backwards there. As to end zone expansion there is no room for expansion there as it abuts Reilly which wasn't built to be expanded on.tpstulane wrote: ↑Fri Jan 27, 2023 7:37 am A current member of our booster club was a structural engineer on the build. Westfeld East side. Press box West side.
So each side can accommodate an additional level. But aesthetically it needs to be on the press box side (West)

Roofs can cost as much as the Stadium itself if they are retractable….. or 2x in the case of Atlanta
They had a domed stadium, but wasnt retractable roof….. so, had to build a brand new stadium to get a retractable roof stadium….
, how is that for logic. With artificial turf btw….
