How many more games can Spears play in before losing his red shirt?

I don't know how many he's played in to date, but he can play in 4 games before the red shirt is not available this season. He's another horse in our RB Stable, for sure.

Initial diagnosis from team Dr is torn ACL based on his examination in locker room. MRI will confirm or not. Let’s hope not.

I listened to the USM wrap up show on the radio and they said that Spears broke his leg. I highly doubt they would know that.

It sure looked like a "soft tissue" knee injury.

Broken leg would be better than torn ACL but team Dr is an orthopedic. Those guys usually are pretty good.

I fear a tear of multiple ligaments. Certainly hope that's not the case.

It was weird that Dr Stewart and whoever the head trainer is these days was letting him just hop around the sideline. If it wasn’t for our police officer escort and one random trainer, it seems he would not have had much attention.

Hoping for the best.

I said during the game that I wasn’t impressed by as well.

If it was a broken leg, I think we would already know it. I assume the delay in his diagnosis is that they are waiting for the swelling to subside before fully assessing the nature and extent of damage.

From the replay, nobody really hit the leg, and he wasn’t making an extreme cut. It looked almost like a bad hyper-extension—I’m not sure what kind of damage that might do.

I am a big Dr Stewart fan from all the personal interactions as a player and a now just an old friend. During the game, I took it as maybe it was assessed not as serious at the time or it was unknown and maybe that female trainer was suppose to be in charge of him and Spears wasn't having it. No idea, but that was just an odd look.

When I saw it live, I assumed he must have a stinger and would be coming back in the game when he hopped out of the tent alone. . . Only to then see he still couldn’t put ANY weight on it and needed help from multiple folks. It was very bizarre

I think I remember reading a while back that athletes always want to walk off the field to avoid showing weakness but that every step could make injury worse.

I was not impress with the response from the medical staff. It looked like something you would see at a high school game.

I agree. From the time they came to the field and back to the sidelines, we didn’t look good.

I agree with all these comments. Based on what the cameras showed, it was amateurish. I'm hopeful that we didn't really see everything. However, from Tyjae's exit from the field to his exit from the inflatable I thought there would be far more professional attention shown to him. Again, I hope we are just misinterpreting what we saw, but if we didn't...well, that's completely unacceptable.

+1 I hope someone from the football program/athletic department should issue a comment and clarify what happened. But that shouldn’t happen again

Wonder why we haven't heard any official word yet. Usually only takes two days.

Tulane World awaits. Is Spears hurt so bad that he needs to be given a medical red shirt (or not)? He was really playing so well up until his injury, Hopefully it is just a hyper-extension of that ACL.
