CFN ranking 1 to 131 for 2023 WAVE #55 only 2 teams in AAC in top 75 UTSA #72 six more in top `100.
No worries. We started this past season in some outlets in the #100’s.krueman green wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:24 am CFN ranking 1 to 131 for 2023 WAVE #55 only 2 teams in AAC in top 75 UTSA #72 six more in top `100.

There's such a P5 bias in that article and ranking! If you notice, they lump a bunch of the conference members close together then spread out the top member up a dozen or two spots. There's no way a bunch of the teams above us are better than about half a dozen G5 programs, ours included.

ESPN’s way too early poll has Tulane at 16 for next year.tpstulane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 9:45 amNo worries. Who besides Ole piss has a greater than 25% chance of beating Tulane next year?
Home: Tulsa, North Texas, UTSA, UAB, USA and FCS team TBA
Away: Rice, Memphis, Florida Atlantic, East Carolina and USM
The team on that list that I believe has the best shot is Memphis. Other than that, 12-1 with another NY6 game is a realistic expectation.

Losing Spears alone on offense and all the experience and leadership on defense means next year’s team will not be as good as this past year’s IMHO. We will be more susceptible to other teams holding the ball more against us. As an example as to how fragile this past year was, I’m not sure we beat USF if Bohannon hadn’t got hurt. They were controlling the game in the first half.

If it were something like ESPN runs at the bottom of the screen saying "XYZ has a 64% chance of winning" (meaning ABC as a 36% chance) I would put these schools at having better than a 25% chance of winning:dpm wave wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 6:58 pm Who besides Ole piss has a greater than 25% chance of beating Tulane next year?

Tulsa, UTSA, UAB, Rice, Memphis, ECU, USM.
As we saw in our game against USM this past season there's a fine line between winning football and losing football. EVERY team EVERY year is a unique event. Come September what we did in 2022 and in the Cotton Bowl is meaningless for the 2023 team. It's a different entity, has it's own life. Of course coming off the great season we think we're going to win 10 games every year. But this was a very special team that had a will to win like very few. We will miss certain players (like Nick Anderson) not only for the plays they made but for how they shaped the team. We've won 10+ games in back to back years how many times in roughly 130 years of Football? Once? Twice?
I don't think we're wrong to aspire to get back to another NY6 bowl game in 2023. I don't think we're wrong to think we can win back to back AAC championships. But to think we have greater than 75% chance of winning 11 or our 12 games is not realistic. Heck some team that starts ranked will finish under .500, it happens every year. Another handful that start off the radar will finish in the top 25. The 2022 team, more than any other, proved that what happens in one year means nothing the next and demonstrated the fine line between winning and losing.

I think the correct answer to this is ZERO.
"That mantra is the only consistent thing that never needs to ever change for the rest of this program’s existence because that is all that matters & as long as that keeps occurring, everything will handle itself" -- Nick Anderson
Big differnvce though. in '99 we had lost out coaches and QB. We have our coach and QB back this time.
