Wave win 72-46 over Grambling. Wave shot 53 % from the field and 13-23 from 3. Galic had 19 pts 10 boards and Whttington and Warmsley both had 8 along with Jones with 9.

Only blemish was 18 turnovers but overall a solid start. Next up is a revenge game vs Bama on Thursday.

Wave looked pretty poor against the press. I would expect Alabama to really pressure them.

Bama led big most of the game (over 20pts). The ladies made a nice run late to make it respectable. Final Alabama 72 Tulane 61.

The women really played tough tonight against a more talented team that looked forward to impressing their fans and embarrassing the Lady Wave. They got it down to 2 but made a couple of very poor passes that cost them and the people in stripes seemed to be using different rules. Regardless, this LSU team isn't going anywhere shooting 10 of 19 at the free-throw line.

They’re not going just anywhere, they’re going to the Final Four.

Lose to 4-8 Houston at home.
But at least Stockton and Co.. were able to squeeze in time to attend the Cotton Bowl.

Women start 0-3 in conference with 2 of them at home. Time to give Coach Stockton an extension? Clearly it's just not something that Tulane really cares about using up resources, but I would think she is one of the higher paid AAC women's coaches. Win or lose, I'm just tired of looking at the same mediocrity and contentment. Let's try SOMETHING different!

Awful start. Hopefully she’s going to retire after this season.

That's alright. Since she won so many NC's she can decide when she's done.

Here's some truly ridiculous adulation:

What? Stockton was the third female coach of Tulane women's basketball, Yea, across the country, when people think of the great pioneers for women's access, Lisa Stockton is first off the tongue.

At least she understands that football comes first during her basketball season.

It's clear that women's basketball at Tulane is not a priority. They know that Coach Stockton is not going to have players that cause any trouble. They will win more than they lose and finish in the top 3-5 of the conference. They will occasionally go to an NIT and maybe win a game. I can't say it's totally wrong to put the resources elsewhere, but it just bugs all of us that she is essentially untouchable with such minor production... for almost 30 years. I would think you could get the same production much cheaper.

Problem with that theory is that she gets paid pretty well. So if that's all they want they can get it for cheaper.

Women home tonight vs SMU
Mardi Gras give-away night.

Interesting that they (WBB) are struggling in conference but NET is 93 and the men having a great conference only at 87. Mens non-conference games SOS #263..

Lisa Stockton sets Louisiana wins record.

Better late than never: Acknowledging Lisa Stockton’s history-making win at Tulane
https://crescentcitysports.com/better-l ... tid=ykz3hl
It might have gotten overlooked for a number of reasons.
It happened on the second Saturday of Carnival season.
It happened out of town – in Cincinnati.
And it happened amid other historic events on the same campus.
But something really important, really historic and really overlooked happened when Tulane’s Lisa Stockton became the winningest coach in the history of women’s college basketball in Louisiana.
It happened on February 18 when the Green Wave produced the 577th win of Stockton’s 29-year tenure by defeating Cincinnati 65-45.
That pushed her past former Louisiana Tech coach Leon Barmore, a member of the Naismith Hall of Fame, who led the Techsters to the 1988 NCAA Championship.
WBB now ranked higher than the men on NET at #89 (MBB #94) WBB on a 4 game winning streak.
