I think we're getting to the point of the season where ranked P5s losing to ranked P5s isn't going to drop them below a G5 due to bias.Show Me wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 2:47 pmDisappointing. Think about it. The ceiling is real. Even if we end up beating Cincy, winning the CCG, and winning the Cotton Bowl, I'd almost guarantee we don't sniff the top ten. Probably 12-13 is the ceiling.Show Me wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 2:56 pmLooks that way. 1998 was similarRobertM320 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 2:52 pmI think we're getting to the point of the season where ranked P5s losing to ranked P5s isn't going to drop them below a G5 due to bias.

We lost any hope of top 10 with that Southern Miss loss. We would've had to run the table after that L.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 20, 2022 6:11 pmThink about it. The ceiling is real. We could've maybe still had top 10 with 2 losses only coming from UCF & Cincy.
But a year after 2-10 season and the AAC not having any marquee OOC wins (other than Kstate) this season, was always gonna be tough to rise too high.

Does the NY6 Bowl Invite go to the G5 Conference Champion of the highest rated conference, or the highest rated G5 champion? If it's the champion of the highest-rated G5, we better enjoy it, as the American will be leapfrogged with the changes after this season.

We should all be rooting for JMU this coming week. They play Coastal Carolina in yet another great SBC game. Coastal, if they win out, could move ahead of a 2 or 3 loss AAC Champion.

Coastal will not finish ahead of a two loss AAC champion, If either TU or Cincy wins the CCG they will still probably be ahead of Coastal, regardless of how they get there. Coastal don't have a single win close to what either of these two have. Now, if UCF ends up in the CCG and wins, its possible they get jumped. Either way, we need to pull for JMU and whomever plays Coastal in their CCG.

I also think the SBC will be a stronger conference than the AAC next year. Definitely more fun as every program, save for perhaps UL-M, is totally "into it" with recent infrastructure improvements, and a rabid fan base.

But I do also think there will be some residual benefits. Just like they tend to favor P5 over G5s, AAC had been the top G5 conference for awhile, so a lot of voters in rankings will just naturally rank a Tulane, or an SMU or a Memphis or an East Carolina over an SBC team with a similar record. Eventually that will change, but there will be a short term benefit from being under the AAC banner.

Tulane, Memphis, SMU, ECU, UTSA, UAB are already better than SBC.DfromCT wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:42 amAgreed.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:36 am Coastal will not finish ahead of a two-loss AAC champion, If either TU or Cincy wins the CCG they will still probably be ahead of Coastal, regardless of how they get there. Getting USF, Temple, Navy back to their 2015-2019 levels would be massive.
I think FAU and UNT have shown in various ways that they aspire to be AAC level.
TV already loves brands like Tulane, SMU, Memphis, Navy, Temple. The AAC will continue to be the premier g5 in football, I. wouldn't worry about it.
UTSA and UAB were good pickups. The rest were fillers IMO. I would have preferred they just add 3 teams to replace those that left.Ruski wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:00 pmTulane, Memphis, SMU, ECU, UTSA, UAB are already better than SBC.DfromCT wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:42 amAgreed.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 21, 2022 9:36 am Coastal will not finish ahead of a two-loss AAC champion, If either TU or Cincy wins the CCG they will still probably be ahead of Coastal, regardless of how they get there. Yeah still don't get the the UNT addition.
UTSA and UAB were great.
I could live with Rice due to the Houston market and academics.
Charlotte was meh.
UNT and FAU weren't gonna be welcomed back in the Sun Belt so no reason for the AAC to bring them in.

Garbage poll. LSU one spot ahead of FSU same record but lost head to head. Same thing with Oregon and Oregon St.Wave755 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 1:03 pm Coaches Poll just dropped, Wave # 18. https://www.usatoday.com/sports/ncaaf/p ... ches-poll/

I wonder, if we win next week, do we leapfrog all three of those PAC-12 teams that are just ahead of us? We're not that far behind them points wise, and none of them made the CCG game. Ore, Ore St and UCLA, all 9-3. We'd be 11-2.

Totally agree. We just beat a top 25. We didn’t get our ass kicked by a losing team. It’s polled by idiots
