I think you meant ECU home game on October 8th.

True test for our defense. ECU avg nearly 500 yds & 35 pts per game (How did they lose to a bad Navy team?). If we come with the same tenacity we had vs K St (who has scored at least 34 pts every game except vs TU) we should be able to score enough to win. And even though the defense was on the field almost the entire 2nd half vs Houston, when they needed to make plays in OT, they did so. And please give Spears a minimum of 25 touches on Saturday, no matter who starts at QB!

After the time our D had to spend on the field it's a good thing we get an extra day of rest for this game.

Dare I say it? ECF beat up on a team that was distracted by an incoming hurricane all week.

Anyway. This is will be a test of our pass defense, but the offense needs to keep the ball and sustain drives. I think our defense will slow them down enough, but if the offense stagnates, the defense will wear down.

The "distraction" explanation is legitimate as we all have painfully seen. It's still very early in the conference season of a seemingly-even conference this year and we are still learning who is who.

In a small sample side
of watching some aac games, ECU is right with the top tier of teams. Not sure if SMU is havent seen them play. Tulsa certainly is, their experienced QB gave up a really bad pick 6 yesterday or else that Cinci game would of been totally different.

Both Tulsa and Cinci have excellent DL, Tulsa seems to have more offensive weapons than Cinci.

It will probably come down to whomever has the easiest schedules in remaining games will end up in championship game.

Then maybe come down to Southern Miss……??…..no one in aac is dominant enough to win the rest of their games so Can Southern Miss beat going Coastal?

I think South Alabama is currently the best team in the Sun Belt West which is pretty weak overall, but they have to travel to Hattiesburg later in the year which may decide the division. It's an interesting new conference rivalry as both schools are only 90 minutes apart. I remember doing the drive from Mobile to Hattiesburg plenty of times.

The best team in the Sun Belt may very well be one that is bowl ineligible. JMU is undefeated and knocking on the door of the top 25. In their first year of FBS football, after a few national championships and a few more championship game appearances, the Dukes are showing people once again that the top of FCS is better than the bottom of FBS. Very similar to the top G5 programs being better than the bottom feeders in the P5s.

And JMU was promised by our commissioner that they were getting an invite. At the last second, he turned his back on JMU, left them hanging without even informing them. I personally would rather play JMU than any of the teams we're bringing in from CUSA. Their athletics program is built on a more solid foundation than most of the AAC including Tulane.

Look for Horton to start this week. Haggard will be the back up.

Bet Haggard never expected to be the backup 6 games into his Freshman year, with 3 QBs ahead of him.

Guys, I know we’re excited but expecting Horton to carry the offense is not realistic. Expect EVU to load the line and bring people. If the defense can’t shut down Ehlers, it will be a disappointing night.

And yet, if I remember correctly, there's been any number of times we've been beaten by backup QBs making a first start.

Our D is good enough to keep games close giving us a chance to win. No one is looking for him to carry the offense at this point.

Kai Horton can make the throws. The decision making and offensive leadership aren't there yet, but he could develop those in time.

He also didn't fold like a cheap suit when under pressure late.

GREAT! Horton's HS stats, which most of us thought meaningless already, are officially no longer relevant. I hope he plays well enough to start a QB controversy, that would be a great problem to have. But it's still Pratt's team until someone steps up and takes the job, which Horton has not done (yet?).

Complete 10-15 easy passes ( including screens) at a high percentage, don't turn the ball over and get the ball to Tyjae. Win. Repeat
