Have to win at least 7 and beat SMU if we want to show we are an improving program.
May need to win 11 or 12 to prove our own university wrong.
I remember the 12-0 season and Scott Cowen said something to the effect that it was a fluke even lighting strikes once in awhile. Was a complete disgrace saying that.

That has Tulane written all over it. Why do we even have an athletic department. The school does zero to support their own program, especially financially.tpstulane wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 12:25 pmI remember the 12-0 season and Scott Cowen said something to the effect that it was a fluke even lighting strikes once in awhile. I was so upset by that statement. 12-0 was an incredible achievement and he tried to diminish it.arkhou02 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 04, 2022 2:41 pmThat has Tulane written all over it. Why do we even have an athletic department. The school does zero to support their own program, especially financially.

SC could be on fire, and if I urinate on him, it will save his life...but alas, he would be cremated

6-6 and an Independence Bowl bid should get Fritz fired. It won't because we are Tulane. This season should be 8 wins and keep your job. 2-10 would have gotten most coaches fired.
I like Fritz. But I also wonder if he's nearly as good a coach as his reputation. Maybe he's one of the best ever for FCS, but he hasn't done anything at Tulane to make me think he's one of the top G5 coaches.

When considering firing coaches at Tulane, the big question is always: Is there a better coach who would be willing to take the job?
I know a lot of people keep citing 8 wins as the benchmark. I think that gives in to last years debacle too much. It shouldn't have happened in year 6. With this schedule if we win 8 it likely means we lost the 4 games that would show the program is truly progressing- K. St., Houston, UCF and Cincy. In other words our 4 Big 12 games. That's why I use 10 as the benchmark. That would mean going at least 2-2 against them. Plus if one of those 2 losses was to K. St. then we will likely be playing with for the conference championship which is what the staff and players are very publicly stating is the goal this season. So here's to 10 regular season wins or more.

When a coach isn't getting it done you move on. You don't stay pat out of fear. There is always some young and upcoming hungry coach looking to climb the ladder. You go for it. Hopefully we win 10 or more and we don't have to deal with that. But if we do you move on.

If we win 8, it’s distinctly possible we beat Cinci and lose to ECU or something along those lines. There’s always some shockers. I have a feeling SMU’s $$$$/talent infusion will make that a tough game.
Which means it's not a breakthrough season. As to SMU that infusion just started so doesn't impact that game. They haven't been a good program. They haven't even played in the conference championship game. No excuses. Just beat them. Our losses to them say more about poor coaching at Tulane than it does about SMU.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 10:13 am If we win 8, it’s distinctly possible we beat Cinci and lose to ECU or something along those lines.
