ND is showing interest. He doesn't seem 110% committed here:

He sure doesn't. He seems like he's used Tulane as his fallback option. That camp did wonders for his recruiting,

Crazy. Chris Scelfo wouldn’t announce his commits because of that fear. Of course with social media today you can no longer control it.

Blame this one on the history of Tulane athletics. You can take your pick among many administrations. If we were in a better league, things would be quite different.

No question. Makes things much more difficult for our coaches of today.

This wasn't about announcing it. He got a last second invite to an elite QB camp when another QB backed out to play volleyball. He did well and got discovered.

Let's not overblow this thing. It happens multiple times, every year, to many teams... and it will happen again. South Carolina just lost a top commit to Florida. You can't blame that on conference affiliation. It's just the nature of the beast now with kids and social media.

I get that. But I’m sure our offer had helped his invite. Gave Tulane credit for being the one to recognize his talent.

Actually you would think a Tulane offer would not merit an invite. Quite the opposite. There are many top rated QB's committed to other schools that they could have asked. Someone there had done their homework. Unfortunate for us.

You most certainly can blame conference affiliation for it. Especially considering he would be coming into the CUSAAC version of it. Recruiting is going to be more difficult after the conference breaks up after this season. That's just the reality of things but alas many Tulanians can't handle reality. All is well all the time at Tulane. And of course you can blame over 70 years of bad decisions that got us in this mess.

Further evidence of this conference problem--earlier this week, SMU lost 5 of its top recruits over something like a 3-hour period. After coming up short in their own recruiting goals, the P5 schools just sweep in on the G5 recruits, like eagles picking up baby bunnies. And this will definitely be a bigger problem with the pending CUSAAC.

I knew this would happen at the school up the river with all these 4 star quarterbacks are still flipping 4 star quarterbacks to come there because it is clear that the coaching staff completely makes competition a priority, including changing play calling to suit the strenghts of each quarterback. They do not force feed all quarterbacks to their one size fits all offense. Recruits coming in want to see a fair chance that if they perform they can move up the ladder. Coaching staffs have to be committed like Oklahoma was with their Heisman Quarterback letting him know his job was not guaranteed. So he is gone. Show casing one quarterback for publicity does not give the appearance of open competition. Also down playing the backups and not recognition for them projects badly to recruiting other stars.

And don’t forget about NIL. That has a large effect on top players and why our recruiting looks so different this year.

And never forget that Tulane would be in better shape if their University would finally get their heads out of their butts and support football.

The first part of your post needs the gbg-English dictionary for translation purposes. I lost mine a while ago, so I haven't a clue what any of that jibberish is trying to convey. Does LSU do a better job recruiting because they have open competition at QB? That's my best guess, but it's like trying to read hieroglyphics.

The second part is just rambling bs by a guy that thinks our 3rd string QB didn't get a chance to compete for the starting job. Question for Mrs Horton: Did Justin McMillan, who transferred in from LSU two weeks before the season get a chance to takeover as the starter? Did Michael Pratt have an opportunity to take over for Keon Howard? Why hasn't Kai done the same as those of them ahead of him did to win the starting QB job? Perhaps because Pratt is the better QB?

WRONG AS USUAL. That has nothing to do with Smolik de-committing here. He's now got offers from top nothch P5's. Like most other D-1 teams Tulane has an established starter. Be thankful that we do.

More BS, Rattler was established at Oklahoma but is gone!!! any of the 4 Quarterbacks at LSU would start here all 4 star. Now because of open competition they are getting a 5th 4 star Quarterback recruit!!! No way is Pratt better then any of them.

If you are this far into camp and you still have a QB competition, you clearly do not have a legit starter.

WRONG. AS. USUAL. None of those players would ever come to Tulane. They are there because LSU is a major P5 team. On top of that I'd take Pratt over any of them. based on what he has done in college and what they have done. Smolik is now going to end up going to a major P5 team. Rattler went into camp as the starter and began the season as the starter. When he didn't meet their standards they switched. Same will happen here if Pratt doesn't perform well. Fortunately all the reports on him are that he is looking better than ever. He showed he was ready in his true freshman season which is rare. He has a lot of experience and is now entering his third year when the game usually really slows down for someone with his experience and as I said above all reports locally are that based on all of that he looks really good. Ibieta continues to have issues with interceptions. Horton looks better but is still running third at this time.
