Per Kendall Rogers on Twitter just now. Team was told at 4 PM today, here comes the national search.

Think this typifies waiting too long. TJ always seemed lost, made horrible in game decisions and expressed no interest in the fans. Why it would take 6 years to correct this mistake is unacceptable and should be roundly criticized. Can we ever return to the position we held before his arrival? That may be very tough and with TD making the decision, quite likely not. Wish they would have RJ lead search.

As expected only I’m surprised that it happened today. I thought he’d be given an opportunity to win the AAC tournament. Hopefully we hire the right guy this time around.

Better late than never--but just a little. It was clear that Jewett was a non-starter by the end of his second year.

Now we should definitely "slap the wall".

Any chance of the scholarship rule change any time soon? That might change the pool of candidates considerably.

I hated that whole slap the wall crap from day 1. Doing it on Friday night with two more games against the same opponent is silly. Maybe you do it after a series win but generally I hate that kind of stuff. It also can put teammates who are already competing against each other for playing time in the position of second guessing the awardee a lot of times.

A scout just texted me that the word was out that he was going to be let go two years ago but was saved by COVID.

Not sure that adds up. He was set to be let go while he was in the middle of a 15-2 season

If that season had continued without an NCAA bid.

Best not to take that chance. Right decision to do it now.

I like the slap the wall comments above. I originally thought it was silly, especially on Friday nights as someone else posted, but the kids got a kick out of it after a big win.

I'd really like to be a fly on the wall of the meeting with Dannen and Jewett and the team. How it was handled and the message the kids got I think is probably more important in Baseball than most sports.

Dannen saved $$ by hiring an assistant from a top program.

Buyer beware.

Actually he lost money by doing that. Go look in the stands. If he doesn’t hire the right guy this time around it will be even less people going next year.

No, I won’t, in your words, fuck off.

Multiple bowl games, some of the best recruiting in decades and drawing in staff and interest from the local area compared to no regionals, shitty schedules and multiple failures in player development.

So no, By the way - great board etiquette you have there bub.

It's not the best recruiting in decades. The recruiting services didn't start ratings till I believe 2002.
