Appears to be our new Strength and Conditioning coach:
Tulane: Sources tell FootballScoop Willie Fritz is planning to make Kurt Hester his new strength coach. Hester, who graduated from Tulane, served as an assistant at LSU in the nineties and has served as the head strength coach at Louisiana Tech since 2014.
He graduated from Tulane in 1995:

Great hire. Excellent reputation over here on the Northshore. A lot of kids did personal training under Kurt when he was in Mandeville/Covington

Great news—a Tulane alum. But will Dannen allow that?

I hope he not only conditions and gets them stronger, but also one hell of a lot meaner

Could be WF’s best hire here. I was at a large dinner function last night on the Northshore and all of the people there know I’m a die hard Tulane fan. One by one they came by to tell me what a great hire Kurt Hester was. These are guys that actually trained or knew Kurt. The one thing I got out from most of the former athletes was that he’s going to improve Tulane’s team speed across the board. When you think of a strength coach for some reason I didn’t even think about the speed aspect besides the strength side.
I’m pretty sure he might also impact our recruiting.

I think being a strength coach is not a particularly high-paying job. Doubling or tripling salary is probably a gross underestimation. A shot at $3-500,000 or even $1 million versus the average of $5ok (per Google) for FBS Football Strength & Conditioning coaches is mighty hard to walk away from at any age. If you're young, you need the money. IF you've worked in the field for your whole career, and been underpaid throughout, you need the money even more!
P5's now have more than 20 Strength and Conditioning coaches that make more $$ than the average G5 head coach. Can you really walk away from that kind of upgrade in lifestyle at any age just because you're working for your alma mater? If you can, more power to you. I know that, despite some great years when I worked on Wall Street, I've never been in a position where I would make that choice.

I hope Tulane is paying Kurt whatever he wants and giving him whatever he needs to stay at Tulane. He's been a game changer for this team, and we are LUCKY and HONORED to have him on the staff. Go follow him on Twitter. His attitude and grind is contagious.

I couldn't agree more. He's one of the best and we should pay him whatever he needs to stay.NOLABigSteve wrote: ↑Fri Jun 16, 2023 9:11 am I hope Tulane is paying Kurt whatever he wants and giving him whatever he needs to stay at Tulane. From everything I've read, including quite a few quotes from players about things he does that aren't just strength and conditioning, absolutely well deserved. It can be argued that 2022 would not have happened without him.tpstulane wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 3:58 pm Congrats!

When I saw this post I was worried Coach Hester was going elsewhere, hope he stays til Coach Fritz retires or more!!!DfromCT wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 5:54 pmFrom everything I've read, including quite a few quotes from players about things he does that aren't just strength and conditioning, absolutely well deserved.
