No one hates LSU worse than me, but I would relish the opportunity to return the rivalry so that we can turn the tables on then and show them that their monopoly in Division 1A for Louisiana is finally over and top local recruits will have a new option in Louisiana besides the school upriver. Facing enemies head on is the ultimate victory!!!anEngineer wrote: ↑Wed Mar 22, 2023 3:13 pm If A&M were forced to look elsewhere to get away from UT, that would really stink for them and LSU. I hate LSU as much as most of us, but they have a long history with A&M that was allowed to renew when A&M joined the SEC (to get away from UT).

Well all of this is speculation except we can start verbally fighting on who hates LSPOO the most. May supplant the kid from Zachary responses.
Looks like UCONN is not interested in going to the Big 12

Sources within UConn’s current league (the Big East) and past home (the AAC) both expressed skepticism about the Huskies’ interest in leaving for the Big 12. One of UConn’s biggest frustrations as a member of the AAC was the disjointed and spread-out nature of the conference, as well as the loss of traditional basketball rivals in the Northeast. When the Huskies returned to the Big East in June 2019, they celebrated the announcement at Madison Square Garden with banners, signs and paraphernalia that made it clear they felt they were back where they belonged.

I guess in Yormark's world, that will put Temple on deck. I wonder how much of this is Yormark's personal agenda vs a strategy vetted and approved by the Big 12 ADs and Prezs. Unlike the PAC which should be trying to expand into the CTZ just to get more eyeballs for its hoped-for media contract, the Big 12 already has its contract and hence has no need to expand immediately, much less to far flung locations.tpstulane wrote: ↑Sat May 20, 2023 3:30 pm Looks like UCONN is not interested in going to the Big 12

Yormark is being naive trying to invest so much in a dying sport like college basketball which no one watches until tournament time because all the major stars leave after one year. It's gonna be worse when the "one and done" rule is gone, and all top recruits declare for the NBA from high school. Football will be the real money maker in college sports since the NFL works hand in hand with college football compared to the NBA who's more adversarial towards the NCAA.

This is also one of those chicken and egg scenarios. People dont watch G5 because they've been led to believe G5 is inferior. Put G5s in a P5, give them the resources, let them be successful, and that changes. Best example would be TCU. However, there really haven't been a lot of TRUE G5s that move to P5 status. Even the 3 new entries to the Big 12 from the AAC were all at one time part of the Big East when it was a Power conference. Most other moves either happened 30 years ago (AZ, ASU, South Carolina, Utah), or moved between P5s (CO, NEB, Maryland, Rutgers)

I think Commish YAWNmark does not want another private school in the conference....UH was supose to be a "charter" member of the big12 until Texas Guv Ann Richards stepped in and told them her school, Baylor had to be included, if not, no school in Texas would be allowed to leave the SWC and merge with the big8...UH was shown the door

Robert I agree. People will tune in if your playing a “FB” school. They are not interested in anything less. Personally I’d rather watch almost any SEC matchup as opposed to an AAC one unless it involves Tulane. It’s the branding that is involved. Unfortunately G5 will always be branded as a less attractive level of FB.

Any graph that includes Tulane's viewership ratings prior to 2020 are going to look disastrous--given we were gradually emerging from the Cowen Dark Ages. Our ray-of-hope is that we have been rated as the fourth or fifth G5 school in 2021 and 2022, with Navy and Army the two highest rated G5's. Hopefully Dannen and Fitts are playing the potential card when it comes to our national alumni base and viewer improvement the last couple of years. We desperately need to have another strong 2023 season and string our viewership improvement to a third year.

I tend to agree. Expansion is about what schools ARE and CAN BE, not what they were. The Big 12 didn't care that Cincinnati was very average in football until about 6 years ago. We have this year to show that we are something and can be more with P5 access.HoustonWave wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 12:22 pmAny graph that includes Tulane's viewership ratings prior to 2020 are going to look disastrous--given we were gradually emerging from the Cowen Dark Ages. So wrong PAC 12 is a dying conference, would be the death of our Athletic Dept. no natural rivalries, late night games, bad for fans that travel with the team, bad for student support and student athletes, way more negatives than positives. Putting extra money in a move versus giving time for realignment to shake out would be a dump knee jerk move!!! A move that Fitts would never support why waste the breath on this foolishness!!!
College Football News
Pac-12 Expansion Prediction:
Here's my best guess. The media deal is fine. It's not amazing, but it's decent enough to swat away the annoying Big 12 gnat that keeps buzzing around. The ten remaining members band together, and San Diego State, SMU, Fresno State, and UNLV are brought in.
Big 12 Expansion Prediction:
The Big 12 will keep on expanding, though probably not the way it wants to. It's still a guess that the Pac-12 will generate a media deal that comes close to what the Big 12 can offer, but for now, assume the four corner schools - Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah - all stay put. Also assume Memphis, Tulane, and USF will be thrown into the Big 12 rumor mill.
American Athletic Conference Expansion Prediction:
SMU is in the Pac-12 in 2025, and the Big 12 - after getting jilted by the Pac-12 schools rumored to be on the way - keeps the AAC raid going with Memphis, Tulane, and USF.

True. But unfortunately for us it also includes 2016 through 2019 when we were trying to get out of the CowDick ditch, and nobody was watching us. In 2021 and 2022 we rated 66th and 65th respectively. In 2022 and 2021 we averaged 355K viewers per game, which if extrapolated over a seven-year period would put us at almost 30m, just behind Kansas--and trending upward. Comparatively, from 2015 thru 2019 we ranked 88th averaging 42K per game , which would equate to a miserable 3.5m over a seven-year period. We are only a candidate for any P5 conference if they believe in our trend line.MicMan wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 1:13 pmThat graph is for viewer totals through 2022.HoustonWave wrote: ↑Thu May 25, 2023 12:22 pmAny graph that includes Tulane's viewership ratings prior to 2020 are going to look disastrous--given we were gradually emerging from the Cowen Dark Ages. By SportsMediaWatch.com. Who in turn relies on the Nielsen rating system for viewership data. The viewership for CBSSN games are not included as CBSSN is not Nielsen-rated at this time, but virtually all other sports media outlets are Nielsen-rated. I too was surprised that we had such strong viewership in 2021--which I can only attribute to three straight bowls in the prior years which may have awakened the Tulane fandom. Also, the fact that nobody expected the wheels to come off like they did in 2021. I suspect the viewership was much stronger in the first half of the 2021 season than in the back half--probably just the opposite of the 2022 viewership pattern.DfromCT wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 5:23 pmBy who? WTF, Gonzaga being courted for the Big 12, no football, 6,000 seat basketball areana, 2,000 seat baseball field? Who said facilities matter??? Amid the college football expansion and conference realignment talk this offseason, the Big 12 has taken center stage with what appear to be ambitious expansion plans, and now another school has moved into the league's zone of interest as Gonzaga has emerged as a new candidate for membership, according to SI.
