Last season EVERYONE was loving seeing him pitch noting the movement on his pitches which led to his success. NO ONE questioned things and said we need to wait till he pitches against somebody and that's because seeing that movement had them not the least bit concerned that it wouldn't carryover. EVERYONE was concerned he'd get taken in the draft. EVERYONE was happy he was coming back. Now people want to hate on him and say he just got figured out. For those of us who go to the games and sit behind the plate you could see the movement there which leads to batters chasing pitches because it looks like it's going to be a good pitch but then it's not. Then that movement was gone due to overuse. He'll find it again at the next level .

tpstulane wrote: Fri May 21, 2021 9:00 am He doesn’t put much arm stress with his delivery. He’s a finesse and not a power pitcher. Looks like he’s just a victim of success. Teams figured him out at this point. When he throws strikes he gets hit. Now when he throws balls teams are laying off whereas before they’d swing and miss. They now know they can’t hit his spinners. That’s just what I see.
Yet he literally was taken out of the rotation for the conference opener due to arm fatigue. He throws a lot of breaking balls which puts stress on the arm.

People can ignore what happened to him with the arm issues but he clearly was suffering with it because no way does a staff just sit their Friday starter for the opening conference series.
Actually it wasn’t what you think.

It appears we are down another pitcher as Bates is no longer on the roster.

6-0 Cincy batted around in the 1st. Stealing and hitting (6 hits including 1 Hr) at will here. Disaster start.
Pitch count 33 we finally got 3 outs.
I’m going off to lunch. Can’t give updates.

Would really like to see Lan Burroughs the HC at La Tech be a serious candidate.

That is definitely the silver lining on this collapse. I say collapse, but we really just had the good fortune of a weak schedule--this Tulane team can't even match up against average competition. Dannen has to pull the trigger on Jewett.

Does anyone actually expect Dannen to pull the trigger?

Early on I had told you I thought it was a definite possibility. When we started rolling and took first I got concerned and felt he may be back but with this epic collapse I think it can happen. We'll know shortly.

I believe after the 1st Memphis series I said I was worried we’d do well enough to just miss the NCAA Tournament but have Jewett get another year

Well coached teams play their way INTO the tourney...

Poorly coached teams play their way OUT of the tourney

5 years and the “Jewitt” experiment has failed.....

If we miss the tournament I don’t think he will be retained. The ncaa post season is clearly the measuring stick for a Tulane baseball coach. Period

It should be. We’ll find out if the AD agrees
