If you have pop ups, then either a bad ad made it's way past the network filtering, or you have other stuff running on your computer. As for the ads, I've hidden some over the past year and have done my best to make them minimal and the reading and scrolling of content more tolerable. I will re-examine and take a look to see if there are any ways I can improve, but keep in mind the ads do help pay for the site infrastructure and time I put into keeping the forum running. (Believe it or not, the traffic this site sees requires a solution beefier than GoDaddy, etc).

Ads are beginning to overwhelm the content on handheld devices, particularly iOS. It’s not as pronounced on desktop devices.
FWIW, I would rather pay a few dollars each month for an ad-free environment.
