I'm not a fan of those silly percentage things, but that was probably a pretty accurate assessment of our chances to win at that point.Wave755 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 10:04 amRemember, this is the same outfit that gave us a 1.3%-win chance in the Cotton Bowl with 4 minutes left to play in the game.tpstulane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:21 pm Tulane underrated at #55

If we beat Ole Miss @ Yulman on 9/9/2023, then much like 1998, we can "run the table" for the remainder of our schedule.anEngineer wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 10:37 amI'm not a fan of those silly percentage things, but that was probably a pretty accurate assessment of our chances to win at that point.Wave755 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 10:04 amRemember, this is the same outfit that gave us a 1.3%-win chance in the Cotton Bowl with 4 minutes left to play in the game.tpstulane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 18, 2023 3:21 pm Tulane underrated at #55

Tulane FB over rated . So says Saturday Down South .
President Fitts , B of A , it's put up or forever hold your peace time . Make Tulane ATHLETICS relevant and top 30 again .
We are certainly underrated by Athlon but….,I think most on here are slightly overrating this year’s team. We lost maybe the best offensive player in the history of the school, some good WRs and a really good off coach. We lost some of the best defensive players (and leaders) from last year’s team as well as a really good DC who might have done as good a job as any DC in school history.
All of that tell me it will be hard to duplicate 2022. I know the schedule might be easier but there are still 4-5 good teams on it.

This season really is a test to see if we have become a program and not just an occasional good team. To be a program, we need to be able to fill those holes each year. Each team can have differing strengths and weaknesses, but they all have to be able to win.

This post, coupled with anEngineer's post tell it all. If Fritz has truly built a program to last, we will fill the holes and win 10 games. Getting the NY6 bid would be amazing, but winning 10 games back to back for the first time would be extremely satisfying. We've only won 10 games a handful of times in our history. With this schedule, 10 wins is the bar we need to pass.Jaxwave wrote: ↑Tue May 23, 2023 9:09 pm We are certainly underrated by Athlon but….,I think most on here are slightly overrating this year’s team. That ESPN ranking is just a regurgitation of what history has made—not the reality of what will be played on the field. A lot of giants will shrink and some little ones will surprise. Our goal is consistency-not a one and done. ESPN could get a fifth grader to come up with their picks

Its pretty impressive when you think about it. We're the only G5 program in the list, and we're coming off of a 12-2 season. We're obviously not going to sneak up on anyone, and they still see us as dangerous.

1. Tulane
Exceeding last year's 12-win season and No. 9 final ranking in the Associated Press poll won't be easy for coach Willie Fritz. The Green Wave will be tested early with matchups against South Alabama and Ole Miss in non-conference play, but their biggest threat in the AAC (UTSA) visits New Orleans in late November. Quarterback Michael Pratt returns after accounting for 3,488 total yards and 37 overall scores last year. He's entrenched among the nation's top signal-callers, and the junior will be counted on even more with running back Tyjae Spears (1,581 yards) off to the NFL. A collection of backs could replace Spears, with Shaadie Clayton-Johnson (333 yards) likely to start. Pratt is also working behind one of the AAC's top offensive lines, but his receiving corps will be retooled after Shae Wyatt and Duece Watts finished their eligibility. New defensive coordinator Shiel Wood inherits a solid foundation from a group that limited opposing offenses to just five yards a play last year. The biggest concerns for Wood rest at linebacker with the departure of Nick Anderson and Dorian Williams, along with the secondary where four key players must be replaced.

You would also hope and expect that Cameron Wire will be on one of those list by the end of the season.Ruski wrote: ↑Wed Jun 14, 2023 4:23 pm 2023 Phil Steele Preseason All-AAC:

The Green Wave completed a 12-win season in 2022 by defeating UCF in the conference championship game and USC in the Cotton Bowl. Willie Fritz’s team checked in at No. 9 in the final AP poll after boasting the biggest turnaround in the FBS. Not bad for a team coming off a 2-10 season and was ranked anywhere from No. 65 to No. 85 in the preseason.
Winning 12 games once again is likely asking too much even in a watered-down American that more resembles the Conference USA Tulane left behind to join the AAC in 2014. After all, Michael Pratt will not be handing off to Tyjae Spears, who was a third-round pick of the Titans, and the defense took a hit with the top five tacklers having moved on.
However, winning, or at least playing for, another conference championship is not out of the question. After all, Pratt and three of his offensive linemen return and the defense, which will be under the direction of former Troy DC Shiel Wood, hardly resembles a bare cupboard.
Be proactive, being reactive is for losers..
