They currently play in an large NFL stadium off campus (Tampa Bay Bucs Raymond James Stadium)

Big commitment here:
USF would spend $140 million under the plan, with another $200 million borrowed over 20 years. The school would source $50 million from donations to the USF foundation, $31 million from its capital improvement fund, and an estimated $59 million from selling broadband equipment and licenses.

It’s already approved. Negotiation tactic to get academic side something down the road.
Yet, some faculty have an issue with how the money will be spent. They want it used in other ways, but the Board of Trustees Finance Committee unanimously approved the plan to build the new 35,000-seat stadium.

Do you realize much of Tulane’s athletic struggles were due to the anti-athletic opposition from the faculty. How has that worked out for us? It probably cost us billions and definitely had an impact on us withdrawing from the SEC and the de-emphasis in the 1950’s that led to that decision. Hopefully USF gets its Stadium.
