Should be fun to watch! Houston plays great D and likes to reach in especially against drives in the lane…. see how we adapt/stay strong with the ball and the refs call it.

I will be watching the 3 pt shooting from both sides to see which way this one goes. We can keep up in the FG vs FG, the 3’s really what allows them to put up the runs.

Is it a bit hyperbole to say this game is more than just getting on the bubble? Would it be too much to think that winning at the number one team in the country would get us national attention to build on the Cotton Bowl win and further push our agenda on trying to join a bigger conference?

Houston came to play tonight. Domination.
Cook 1-10 can’t get a shot off clean. Houston all over the court defensively. Refs letting them play advantage Houston because we’re not getting to the line.

As Ron Hunter has said over and over he is not concerned with rebounding. Well guess what Ron, rebounding is one of the absolute musts in basketball. The lack of boxing out on defensive rebounding is abysmal and should embarrass a coach. Not even going to comment on the offensive preparations and scheme which is embarrassing also.

Houston is clearly a lot better, but they are fouling a lot that's not being called. They are taking extra steps that are not being called. The refs are definitely intimidated by the environment.

Games called like this are not goin to help Houston prepare when they are playing in the NCAAs on the road….

Btw, Final Four is in Houston which is kinda cool!

Actually that’s exactly how the games are called in the NCAA tournament. The refs let them play.

Don’t tell anybody but Hunter is a joke. Has no offensive scheme, his defense sucks giving up offensive rebound one after the other and he hasn’t recruited a high school player worth a damn since he’s been here.,

Please hope that somebody hires this guy because he’s liable to get an extension after this season.

Didn’t Hunter mouth off about beating Houston at his hiring press conference?

The team is 10-4 in conference with 2 of those to the #1 team in the country. The swept Memphis and split with Cincinnati. They will be favored in their final 4 games to finished 2nd or 3rd in conference. There are things to complain about but this is the BEST program since Perry Clark BY A LOT! Your statements just make no sense.

We’ve played nobody. The OOC schedule was horrendous and the conference is going to get one bid. Hunter got 3 transfers who can play against mediocre talent and he rolls a ball out there and says go get your shots. That friggin’ zone of his has been rated alive ever since he’s been here. I could take these guys and run just a couple of drills and teach them to box out to get rebounds. He publicly shows disdain for rebounding and his kids follow that lead by just turning and looking at ball as opponents crash the boards for putbacks. He hasn’t recruited one above avg high school player since he’s been there.

And by the way is your standard being better than the coaches we’ve had since Perry. Yea, that’ll compete in the PAC 12. Tonight’s performance would be duplicated every game we play in a new conference. Hunter ain’t it.

Send your resume to Troy Dannen. He should be impressed if you're a better coach.

Didn't adapt very well. 15 of the 19 turnovers were steals.

That was the feeling of the basketball community in Atlanta where he wore out his welcome. His arrogance about rebounding is disturbing and cost us games. His team plays like their afraid when they play Houston. Sampson OWNS Hunter, we haven't come close to beating them since he arrived. Substitutions are not at all strategic, they're reactions to how many fouls a player has. Shortening the rotation has taken a toll on the core four. The guy can attract talent, but his coaching leaves a lot to be desired.

Houston Bigs had career highs last night. Houston came out and played like the #1 team in the country. They are a terrible matchup for us (and nearly everyone) because they are very skilled, athletic and long. Im not sure if we could beat them once if we played them 10 times due to the matchup against what we have. But let's look what we roll out... (and this is not a knock at all on the players we have)

We have Sion James playing the center in the 2-3 zone. I love Sion but that just is not going to cut it against the top teams. He will work his a$$ off down there, but he is not a post player/defender/rebounder. Cross is a phenomenal offensive player, but his lack of size really shows on defense and rebounding. One thing I do not understand is that even if Hunter does not mention a box out ever, these players have been playing basketball for years. You never see one. You would think someone would just instinctively throw a body on someone especially a team like Houston where you have given up so many offensive boards. I still box out in my weekly pick up game and we are all old and none of us can jump. It is odd, but I do not question these guys' efforts. They play hard and leave it out there. We need one more piece to our starting 5. We just are missing a complete roster for that next step up to the next level of consistent competition.

Tulane basketball has been bad for a very long time. We made it to February and still are only single digit losses....big step forward. Maybe this is one stepping stone closer, but we desperately need a big rim defender and rebounder. If we do not pick one up before next season, then I am not sure how much further we can get. I am not sure who the last overall quality post player. Hopefully, we can use this improvement/success to grab one this offseason because we see the need every single game.

Our players do box out WHEN they are around the goal. Hunters defense usually leaves no one around the goal when shots go up. That is the issue and he is adamant that he is not going to change anything on defense. He also doesn't believe in recruiting a true big.

As for next year we likely need a lot more than one big man added. Cook, Forbes and Cross are most probably going pro. No not the NBA but they'll go to one of the other many leagues out there. That's why this year is the year we needed to make the tourney because the rebuild starts next year.

We got killed by bigs all season but were able to make up for it with hustle and athleticism. The problem is that only gets you so far, maybe top 40 or so. A bigger guy is going to get more rebounds; that's just basic logic. Hunter brought in Daniels to give us a bigger presence but he essentially never played at all. It took Fritz 5-6 years to figure it out. Let's hope Hunter is getting there; he's still the best we've had in a long time and there's no guarantee we can get someone better.

Big difference between Fritz and Hunter. Willie is willing to admit mistakes and change. Hunter's ego is such that it doesn't allow him to change.

Houston probably played their best game of the season last night. We just can match their size or quickness. Every shot and pass was contested. Rarely did we get an easy bucket. NIT here we come.
