Several sources report that. Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl winning quarterback Trent Dilfer will soon be announced as the next head coach for UAB. Tulane is scheduled to play UAB at Birmingham in 2023 after they join the AAC. I’m betting this is going to b e a good hire.

Damn. This makes me sad. Dilfer could be great. But he's only coached 4 years of HS football. Huge gamble.

UAB and UTSA were supposed to be the cream of the CUSA6. If they aren't going to compete for AAC conference titles, the conference will be VERY sad.

Well, Jim Harbaugh had a grand total of 2 years of being an Oakland Raiders assistant when he got the head coaching job at San Diego. 7-4, 11-1, 11-1 in his three years there, In his first 10 years as a college head coach, he had five 10+ win seasons and two trips to the Orange Bowl. You just never know sometimes.

Deion Sanders had a few years coaching HS before Jackson State tapped him. A quick couple of years later and he's one of the superstar rising coaches today.

Gus Malzahn
High school football was a brief stepping stone for the vast majority of coaches who even went that route at all. Malzahn was one of the exceptions to the rule, spending 14 years as a head coach at various high schools in Arkansas. He implemented an explosive spread offense at each of those stops before making a seamless transition to college football. He helped guide Auburn to the BCS national championship game in just his second season as a college head coach.

The AP poll had UTSA ranked #24, higher than many "named" PEE schools

I like him and his story here. He`ll bring a lot to AAC credibility next year after some big loses of good teams to other conferences. Welcome Mr. Dilfer!
