Tulane defeated Kansas State 17-10

Up to No. 9 in my Group of 5 college football power rankings is Tulane after upsetting Kansas State from the Big 12. The Green Wave are off to an outstanding 3-0 start, something they haven’t done since 1998 when they finished 12-0 and ranked No. 7 in the final AP Top 25 college football poll that year. Tulane has a tough remaining schedule. Seven of their eight opponents are currently ranked in my G5 Top 20. But for now, what an accomplishment for Willie Fritz and his Green Wave, especially after his team went 2-10 last season.

Probably also means we have one of the toughest if not the toughest remaining schedules of the schools on that list.

Or, whoever came up with the poll has an AAC bias and doesn't realize this is a down year for the conference, including those that are leaving. It's wide open, but there's plenty of other G5 teams that are pretty good too. Our Green Wave did have the biggest move in the CBS poll this week, up 45 spots from 93 to 48. Impressive moves were also made by Duke (up 25), Wyoming (up 26), James Madison (up 21, Go Dukes!), and Rice (up 25) to name a few. K-State fell 16 and despite losing to Tulane (at home no less!) is still ranked above us at 43. I think they were overrated and continue to be overrated.

ROLL WAVE!
