The AAC expansion committee includes a prominent crew of athletic directors from the conference – USF’s Mike Kelly, Memphis’ Laird Veatch, SMU’s Rick Hart and Navy’s Chet Gladchuk.

Why are ADs from schools LEAVING the AAC having a say on expansion?
Which one of those is going anywhere at this time?

I think Aresco put the SMU and Memphis ADs on the expansion committee hoping it might keep them in the AAC—it won’t. And I doubt Navy will stay with the new AAC line up we have. They’ll go independent, like Army, and take back control of their scheduling .

Navy ain't goin nowhere, they just had an orgasm...they can now tell their Texas recruits, we are going to Houston, Dallas (twice SMU- NTSU) and a NEW destination, San Antonio...Texas recruits, is why Navy insisted in be in the Western division

And how is Fitts destroying Tulane? Our rankings, financial position, and academic reputation have all vastly improved since his arrival. The acceptance rate for this fall was around 10%. It was 25%+ before Fitts arrived. He is a complete dork in public but an academic bsd that has done great things for Tulane.

Are you aware of WHY, its only 10% now? They waived the application fee and they get thousands of applications from potential Ivy Leaguers as a fallback option. That's why you're getting 20K applications and taking 2000, when before you were getting 8K and accepting 2K. More quantity doesn't mean better.

the only teams that made NCAA postseason in 5 years and counting of Dannen were men's tennis and the 3 minor-bowl football teams. That is it.

What are our graduates doing financially compared to others? And why aren’t they giving back?
Like Robert has pointed out Fitts knows how to game the system (US News weighting). All they do is pump up the applications so they can deny them.

Tulane is getting 45k+ applications and has achieved an acceptance rate under 10%.

Tulane, like other private schools like WashU, butters it’s bread by giving scholarships to rich kids that are admitted to ivy leagues but don’t receive scholarships to those ivy leagues because their parents are rich. Even though those kids are rich, 50%+ off Tulane or WashU is a better deal than paying full freight at Penn or Cornell due to not being eligible for need based scholarships. There is nothing wrong with that approach and it serves Tulane quite well.

You missed the point. We've got more applications ONLY because we waived the fee. You increase the applications, you obviously get a lower acceptance rate, because class size stays the same. Rather than fill out 5 applications that have fees, prospective students save money by paying for three and finding a school or two like Tulane that has no application. They don't really WANT to come to Tulane, its just a safety net should they not get into their schools of choice. That <10% figure is a manufactured number. Add the application fee back and watch how the number of applications plummets.

BS. Our yield - actual % of accepted students that enroll - has increased dramatically in recent years....see below.

The Class of 2025 represents a projected yield rate of 45% this year, up from 24% in 2016. This shows a remarkable 75% increase over the last five years.

As 1989 noted, yield is up dramatically at Tulane, and that means that people that are admitted to Tulane frequently choose Tulane's offer over competing offers.

It's best to look at Tulane's admissions in an itemized form:
1. Applications: 45,517
2. Yield: 45%
3. Acceptance Rate: 9.73%
4. Middle ACT: 31-34

That data is an incredible reflection of how far Tulane has come in the last few years, and shows that not only that highly qualified students want to attend Tulane, but also that Tulane's offer is accepted by those students over competing offers an extraordinarily high rate. Basically, it's fine if people want to complain about athletics, but Tulane's academics are very much on the upswing and that is supporting by both quantitative data points and the qualitative opinions of the university across the US.

Got word from a reliable source that this weekend on WWL radio Scott Slatten called for the firing of Dannen. Waiting to verify this from the WWL archives. They should be up tomorrow or by Tuesday. Either said on the 26th or 27th. Just found out this morning.
Or maybe Scott can verify or deny this himself on here.

Does Slatten have a show or something on WWL? Just wondering, as I didn't think WWL talked Tulane much.
Anyway if he has Fitts' ear, which he might, it could mean something.
But then I'm not sure Fitts is much more than a figurehead at this point.

You know something is seriously wrong with Troy Dannen when he spends eighty percent of his time working on non-Tulane related items and then has the audacity and lack of self awareness to nonchalantly talk about this with Tulane fans.

Dannen's probably hoping to get a "package" to leave the Tulane scene. He obviously has lost any interest in all things Tulane. He's basically daring Fitts to fire him, which will likely trigger the obligatory severance package. Fitts ought to fire him for cause and non-performance, and then stiff him with no package.

Yield is up due to the early acceptance provision, not because they're choosing over competing offers. In many cases, they don't have competing offers so they're taking the sure thing.

While we're at it why has Dannen not announced the shift of the remaining Oklahoma game to New Orleans ?
President Fitts , B of A , it's put up or forever hold your peace time . Make Tulane ATHLETICS relevant and top 30 again .
