Loyola’s men’s basketball team is off to a fast and scintillating start at 7-0. And they are on pace to break the NAIA record for team average ppg By averaging 113 points per game. This is a 40 year old record currently held by David Lipscomb College at 110.3 points per game from the 1979-1980 season..

It’s early yet, but this team is going to be a lot of fun to watch. Don’t let the cynic’s “it’s only NAIA” get inside you. It doesn’t matter the level they play at, seeing basketball played at this pace with this much scoring is still fun to see.

If you are in New Orleans go check them out. If you can’t get to see them in person Loyola streams a lot of their games for free, (although it is very basic camera work and the announcer isn’t the best),

Loyola’s women are also off to a quick start at 3-0. Both the men and women are defending conference champs. Loyola’s men made it to the second round of the NAIA tournament last year.

Top 25 polls don’t come out once a week for NAIA teams, but Loyola’s men were ranked #17 in the preseason poll.

The women received votes in the preseason poll.

One more thing: tickets for basketball are only $6 for adults and $3 for children. So, it’s very affordable to see a lot of scoring.
