I think he'll be ranked around 80th. He got to the round of 16 after coming into the tournament 118. You don't jump that far based on one week. He played well, was up a set and up a break in the second set before Medvedev got things going on his side of the net.

Booras praised for developing Dominik in national tennis publication. Should help with recruiting.

“[Tulane Head coach] Marc Booras definitely chose the right training goals. He was responsible for turning a good player into a top athlete and performer,” Heuft said.

Tulane has been blessed with good womens ands mens tennis coaching of late: Klein, Schumacher, Booras. My French nephew, Arnaud Lantin was No. 1 JC player and recruited to TU by Coach Klein but he choose Top 10 program U. oftpstulane wrote: ↑Sun Sep 01, 2019 9:24 pm Booras praised for developing Dominik in national tennis publication. Illinois instead for his 4 year degree. My kids helped out coach Klein back in the 90's during his summer tennis camps.

What's ironic is Dominik told reporters that his biggest change this year, leading to his improved play, was a focus on diet and conditioning. He came right out and said he had close to a total disregard for both while in college. And he was the best player in the NCAA for almost two years.
This isn't a knock on the coaching, it's a nod to his natural born talent.

Ask Drew Brees why his game is among the best and he’ll tell you preparation, exercise and nutrition. Tom Brady as well. When you want to be the best those things can give you an edge.DfromCT wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 12:09 pm What's ironic is Dominik told reporters that his biggest change this year, leading to his improved play, was a focus on diet and conditioning. I know Brady is a freak about working out and nutrition. Gronk used to try to keep up with him in the off season and would joke about how he couldn't do so.tpstulane wrote: ↑Mon Sep 02, 2019 12:57 pmAsk Drew Brees why his game is among the best and he’ll tell you preparation, exercise and nutrition. Some D1 programs have nutritional specialists, not just one or two for the Athletics Dept, but position specific nutritional specialists dedicated to various sports.

Dominik Koepfer lost in the first round for the first time in his three Grand Slam appearances yesterday. After reaching a peak ranking of 83 in early November, he went into the tournament at #89. He fell to Pedro Martinez Portero, who was ranked 168 going into the Aussie Open, in straight sets.

Huge ! I keep missing his matches, but so pumped he’s doing so well. I believe he’s up to #66 in the world. This is big time for a former NCAA player

Dom reached 2nd round at French Open against the No. 16 seed, the Swiss Warlinka. He always takes a set when pitted against a Top 10 or 20 ranked player and this bodes really well for his ascent in the rankings.

Watched some of the match vs #3 Thiem who is playing excellent. Koepfer battled hard and pushed Thiem in the first set, but had something like 11+ unforced errors in the set that was the difference in him losing 6-4. After that the wheels came off. But there is no doubt koepfer is a very good player, needs a good draw to help him make a good run somewhere.
Dom starts his French Open run. I have no idea how he plays on clay but his draw looks pretty promising for a deep run.
He opens vs a Wildcard frenchman. If he wins, he likely gets Taylor Fritz, an American who has never advanced by the 3rd round of a major. Beat Fritz and he gets Federer whose worst surface is clay. Beat Federer and he wouldn't get anyone higher seeded than 9th. Win that and get Djokovic.
And he's playing doubles with a Fin.
Thiem is already out!

Huge win. Likely will face Federer in a must watch match ! Definetly has a shot to beat fed at this point in his career on clay
Glad to hear it. Hope he keeps rolling through the tournament.
