I'd imagine it's because few really care about a Tulane vs FIU game. Neither team has much of a fan base.Aberzombie1892 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 8:35 amI would imagine because it's such a small line and there is so much uncertainty between the two teams.

And, another reason why so many underestimate the Wave for this season. We are no more than an afterthought for most football fans and analysis as well.; and, very few analysis have really done their homework on this team.DfromCT wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:12 amI'd imagine it's because few really care about a Tulane vs FIU game. The Vegas spread has now moved to the Wave 2 pts. > FIU (Rotation nos. 137-138 for Vegas Sheet) http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-foo ... las-vegas/
O/U 57 pts.

I certainly hope I can look back at this season and say we were underestimated. For now, I am hopeful and optimistic (like every other team). We ALL know what the history of this program is, and it never leaves the backs of our minds. Having a solid defensive front can always keep things manageable and we do have that. If we can beat FIU by 10+, we've got something. If not, we could be looking at sweating it out every week; win a few, lose a few.Wave755 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:40 amAnd, another reason why so many underestimate the Wave for this season. I am happy to report 18 to 22 year-olds couldn't care less about "history," and as you may have noticed, they just completely ignored the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Aquarian Exposition held at Bethel, New York in August, 1969. For 18 to 22 year-olds there is only "now."anEngineer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 9:52 am I certainly hope I can look back at this season and say we were underestimated. if their history is "only now" how bright is their future ?Wave755 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 10:28 amI am happy to report 18 to 22 year-olds couldn't care less about "history," and as you may have noticed, they just completely ignored the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Aquarian Exposition held at Bethel, New York in August, 1969. This team is no joke. From Athlon what other CUSA coaches said about FIU:
“The best-coached team in the league. Every unit, special teams, all of it."
"They have more discipline and awareness on the field than any other team.”
"They really show a level of legitimacy in how they develop their guys. Very detail-oriented and they’ve got fantastic ball control on offense. They don’t make mistakes, they can grind on you with a lead and don’t have to shoot it out."

Yeah, but so long as we go out and take the field we'll win. Others here guarantee it.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 7:33 pm This team is no joke. From Athlon what other CUSA coaches said about FIU:

Enough said!
After all, Butch did end the season with a big 3 point win over the Toledo Rockets of the Mid-American Conference?

Much like we did to ULALA in the Cure Bowl with the line closing for that game Tulane only by 3 pts. and many on our forum warning we were heading for another "humiliation" on national television.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 12:20 pm I really hope we drub FIU and we can all look back and laugh at this thread

I do too. But I also think we have proven nothing to be looking down our noses at any opponent on this schedule. Last year we snuck into a lousy bowl game at 6-6. We lost to a bad SMU team and barely beat a bad Navy team to become bowl eligible. Put up 8 or 9 wins and then we can go into games like this one much more confident.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2019 12:20 pm I really hope we drub FIU and we can all look back and laugh at this thread
And I'm not sold on McMillan. Yeah, yeah, I know he went 5-1. But I've also watched a few of those games and really don't trust his left arm.
Maybe I'm too shell shocked from Lucy pulling the ball away year after year after year as a Tulane fan.

Everything you said is fair. We thought we had our QB in banks last year and saw that 2nd year regression and Lucy pulling the ball away in that nightmare of a first half of the season. The hope is this year that 1) McMillan isn’t Banks 2) Will Hall is a far superior OC & is capable of developing QB talent.
