The responsive design is a major, major upgrade. I'd expect the all forum's key metrics to improve noticeably.

I vote for light backdrop. Always seek out the light! My name looks better in black also.

hey steve,
just poked through the settings, can't find how to take off recent topics from showing above the boards listing

is there a way for users to turn off recent topics or is that a global setting?

It is currently a global feature. While I like it, I also want the functionality of it being able to be turned on or off at the user level. I've already put in a request to the developer of the extension and am waiting to hear back.

Don't like the dark look at all. I think that the color scheme is more appealing, but I don't see the practical possibility of "getting used to it". The reason being that (of course) this isn't the only site that we visit, so I'm always having to make a visual adjustment from a much lighter site to this one. How many other sites do y'all visit that are white type on a dark background?! I don't happen to believe that we've stumbled on a better way to do things here. I think the other sites are brighter for good reason!

Make sure you get your votes in. I will keep the poll open through the weekend. If the majority wants lighter, we will go that route. But I would like more than just 18 votes.

The text has now been lightened some.
Much better! However, am I wrong, but is the text in the reply box still not as light as the text on the actual thread? I know when I set up my website, there were all these different options for headers, text, message text, etc. See if you can set it to be the same as the forum posts themselves.

But the threads definitely look better.

I changed my vote from dark to light. Just seems like most sites are light and that's what your eyes are used to seeing.

Looks like it's starting to trend towards the light theme. I will start tweaking the light theme tonight and we will give it a test spin.

As someone who installs and maintains information systems for a somewhat-honest living, I would like to point out that:
  • What Steve is doing is non-trivial and is accomplished neither quickly nor easily
  • What Steve is doing is being done at no charge for all of us
  • If it is a monumental inconvenience for you to be burdened with an undesirable backcolor or forecolor, you should make an inquiry to Steve about contracting for custom modifications. I'm certain that you would be shocked at the fair market cost of what he is doing for free.

Light text elements on white background? Non-starter.

This scheme is much better on my eyes than the dark background.

There was nothing wrong with the previous format.

The light theme has received the most votes so far.

Stephen, I see you are playing with the fonts and page layout. I notice now on my desktop the page no longer fill's the entire screen.
I thought the previous font was better. Just some feedback. Thanks.

I changed the font, but meant to revert it. I've just adjusted the width some, not 100%, but wider than before.
