Scouts say 6’2’’ is generous . . . Who cares, flutie and brees did just fine and aren’t 6 foot. His incredible record of winning, decision making and accuracy tells me what I need to know- and the P5 offers and scouting report that says upper tier P5 Impact starter doesn’t hurt either

Jack Abraham was picking apart Tulane's D and had USM moving the ball pretty much at will before he got hurt. Jack is "generously" listed at 6'0".Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 1:34 pmScouts say 6’2’’ is generous . . . Who cares, flutie and brees did just fine and aren’t 6 foot. Clearly by even his own comments he mustn't be 6'2". The other question there seems to be is that his team plays at a low level in 2A. His four star rating shows he has ability that can't ignored even with those questions hanging over him.

The Athletic’s national recruiting article spotlighted our Keyes commit. Maybe I’m being sensitive but i really didn’t take it as very complimentary and it was rather alarming regarding our prospects of holding onto his commitment.
This week in recruiting: Why a four-star quarterback committed to Tulane- https://theathletic.com/1959009/2020/07 ... ed_article
Would love to hear others interpretation

My reaction is that it's just another writer touting the P5 at the expense of the G5. I don't think it's an attack on Tulane or Fritz (he doesn't even mention that Fritz's reputation is to run the football.) I was surprised that he didn't mention Will Hall as Hall clearly influenced Keyes, and we probably don't land him without Hall.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 3:18 pm The Athletic’s national recruiting article spotlighted our Keyes commit. I agree and have said from the beginning that this commitment means nothing until he signs.

"This is nothing against Tulane. Fritz is an outstanding coach, and that offense is a lot of fun to watch. But prospects dream about reaching the highest possible level of college football, and the world of recruiting operates like a food chain. Tulane scooped up a commitment now, but if a bigger, better fish comes along, Keyes may be tempted to look around. He said he’d take visits if other schools come back into the fold."
“I wanted to go to the SEC. It just didn’t go as planned,” Keyes said. “I had the ability to go there, but other schools had their (quarterback commits).”
Are Mississippi high schools going to play this year? Better for us if they don't. If they do and he blows up, he gone.

Apologies for an ignorant question: I know there was discussion about giving college players a one-time no-questions-asked transfer to another school. Was that rule enacted or only discussed?
If Mr. Keyes plays to his reputed ability, there are a lot of paths that lead to non-Tulane destinations.

Glad NSD is in December. Doubt they'll allow visits by then.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 3:18 pm The Athletic’s national recruiting article spotlighted our Keyes commit. Win, you beat me to it. I was thinking about how football moving to spring could end up being a major boon for us. No visits hurt P5 more then us (which is an absurd reality given we are comparing places like Starkville and New Orleans), and levels the playing field. Furthermore, the NFL draft won’t be a major factor for us but certainly would be brutal for say Miss State (would be great for leach to lose his QB). Pratt getting more time to mature doesn’t hurt, and who knows if a Grad Transfer QB would shake loose and fall into our laps for depth. As fans and for student athletes this sucks, we want football and we want it now. . . But there is definitely a silver lining for Tulane’s football program.winwave wrote: ↑Wed Jul 29, 2020 4:39 pmGlad NSD is in December. We got a shot because evidently he is only 6'0" tall and there aren't many 6'0" QBs in the SEC. What could happen here is this same thing that happened with Lindsey Scott where somebody loses a QB late and takes him with no intention of him ever starting for them. And the allure of him telling those around him he signed with an SEC school becomes too great. Hopefully, he doesn't fall for that. His own words are not encouraging as he hopes other teams come back around. 50/50 might be optimistic here.
Plus he may still grow at his age.

Ty Keyes just tweeted this
He has been retweeting and been a cheerleader for Tulane on his Twitter for a while now. I hope he realizes that Chip Long is big time and this is where he should be. Fingers crossed

Chip Long is also supposed to be a tremendous recruiter. I hope he's able to make a call to Ty Keyes and do his thing.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Thu Dec 03, 2020 6:05 pm Ty Keyes just tweeted this

I am not worried about signing a QB...Brennan of lsu will be entering the "portal'...I am more concerned with signing players that can actully catch the damn ball...Marino, Namath, Starr, Brees, Mahomes, all would have looked like average QB's at best, with the WR's now on the roster
Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

Oh well... good luck to Keyes. He was no lock to beat out Pratt and he knew he would sit for 3-4 years.
Absolutely but still a big blow to our recruiting rankings.GreenLantern wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 12:50 pm Oh well... good luck to Keyes. He was no lock to beat out Pratt and he knew he would sit for 3-4 years.
