And then I think of Lindsey Scott with his Harvard offers and eventually selecting LSUgh. *sigh* Great decision making is not a hallmark of kids in their teens and early 20s.

HoustonWave wrote: Fri Jan 11, 2019 1:34 pm OU's back up QB Austin Kendall has just entered the NCAA transfer portal. He was to be the new OU starting QB, with Kylar Murray going into the NFL draft. This strongly suggests that Jalen Hurts will be heading to OU, and Kendall is squeezed out between Hurts (1 year eligibility), and Spencer Rattler, the nation's #1 QB recruit that OU signed three weeks ago. Kendall will be a grad transfer, with 2 years eligibility remaining. Will Fritz make a pitch?
Jalen Hurts announces he's headed to OU--completing the story of Austin Kendall's transfer.
The story will be complete when Kendall declares where he's going. He can play immediately if he's graduated. And we sure as heck should be contacting him, Tulane offers a lot that would be of interest, particularly if he cares about life after football and wants his graduate degree to be meaningful.
He is a grad transfer, with two years eligibility left.

He lays some hits in his highlights. How many of our two star propescts last year made all AAC teams ? 3 (i believe)? Apparently he just had a visit with Ms State among other interest- I don’t think this staff is reaching, let’s have faith in a great coach and crew under him.

Don't put much stock in HUDL films or HS stats. With 4.5+ times in the 40, he would not be running away and creating separation in D1 as he did in HS. But then again you, much like Pete in the other thread, probably know more about the young man from looking at his stats than our coach, with 30+ years coaching experience and been recruiting the kid for a few months knows about him.

But you do have the benefit of a few minutes of highlight films to watch.

RobertM320 wrote: Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:11 pm I know there's been a lot of concern here regarding the quality of this class, after last year. This update comes right after the announcement of Darius Hodges. Looks like we're getting closer to matching last years quality. And definitely far better than anything in recent years.

YEAR NATL RK AVG

2019-81-.8198
2018-69-.8265
2017-112-.7855
2016-97-.7956 (Fritz' first class, w/o time to fully recruit)
2015-91-.8002 (CJ's last class)
2019 final numbers

2019-95-.8172

The second best recruiting class in recruit quality since the composite rankings started, by a considerable margin. Next highest is 2012 with a .8008 rating.

I'm guessing PWO and eligible immediately. Though being on the OL he'll likely redshirt.

If he was a Navy Prep School student, he's probably 19 years old by the time the season starts. Doesn't the NCAA have a requirement to use your four years eligibility within 5 years of your initial HS graduation? Not sure how it applies for the service academies.

If memory serves you have 5 years to play 4 after you enroll in college, not prep school...the academies are not allowed redshirts, the prep school is their red shirt year

Trace Oldner
G, High School Players

Four-star 2018 G Trace Oldner indicated that Arkansas is the current leader for his commitment.
"I came to camp here last summer and liked it a lot. I just wanted to get back up here again [for the camp in 2016]. I have a lot of family in the state," Oldner said. The 6-foot-5, 290-pounder hails from Katy, Texas, and currently has just an offer from Indiana to his fair name. Arkansas is likely to make him an offer, too, in the coming days. Per 247Sports, Texas A&M is intrigued as well.

That's my understanding. There certainly have been stories of older guys finally going to college and then playing. Other examples are guys who go from HS to pro baseball and then come back to college and play football after several years in the minors.
