A lot of people give a shit because coaching matters. Penny Hardaway is the poster child for that. Nothing but 4 and 5 stars and his team stinks.
Point being the arguing about the guy's past coaching experiences is tiring. We all got the points from both sides. Let it die until the season starts. And Penny Hardaway is a stretch. All coaches will tell you that the team with better players win the majority of the time.

You don't want to argue then let it go. When any poster gets responded to they are going to respond. Penny is no stretch. Alabama football has always recruited at high levels yet they went through several coaches in a row that couldn't win big with that talent. Texas is another example. Coaching matters. it especially matters at a school like Tulane that is never going to recruit at a high level. Our players clearly need good coaching in order to coach them up. Everybody is pulling for the guy to succeed here it's just that on the face of it it appears to be a disappointing hire.

Fobbs and McCleskey are no longer on the coaching staff:

Very interesting. Hobbs and Mcclesky still has Tulane on their Twitter so maybe they have taken an anylist position

That's likeley as Willie had said our staff as far as analyst needed to grow. Fobbs is the move that surprises as our RB's have played well under him.

Agreed. I wouldn’t mind if both our secondary coaches were moved to anyway positions and we brought in new blood. Not sure how they could have been any worse over the last two years

I'm glad McCleskey is gone.

Bad move for recruiting McCleskey has a strong base on the northshore and was instrumental in getting Celestine to come on board.
A resident of Louisiana for 25 years, McCleskey founded ME Sports to train and support athletes. He coached and mentored more than 70 athletes that have moved on to play at the collegiate level. He also served as head coach of the Louisiana Bootleggers 7-on-7 squad from 2015-17. He led the Bootleggers to a second-place finish at the 7-on-7 national championship in 2015 and was a part of the program’s 2014 national championship.

While at LSU, I hope Coach Chatman was able to sit down & discuss techniques/coaching points with fellow "advisor" Pete "The Legend" Jenkins. We'll find out soon enough.

Mcclesky on paper always seemed like a great hire. Results were less so. Never delivered big time recruits but he did help a bit.

Defense won't change that much unless Hampton goes also.

We have a really good group of LB's. We need a DL coach who can school up our young, twitchy & athletic d lineman.
Our secondary hasn't played with care free confidence since Coach Washington & Rollins were on the staff.
