Its not middle of the 6th yet. Cincy still batting, having already scored 5 runs. Runners on 2nd and 3rd now, STILL no outs.
ECU has used 6 pitchers today.

11-8, ECU in top of 8th. Two out, two on. ECU on pitcher #8. And he's only pitched 1 1/3 innings all season. Are they that low on pitchers, or is he just limiting each guy so that they can still pitch over the next few days?

We are an offensive joke.

You know, sometimes we need to stop whining and just tip our caps to a guy who pitched a masterful game today. That's how baseball goes. When a pitcher is on his game, sometimes no one's going to hit him.

Then we have faced masterful pitchers for the better part of 8 straight games. Even the two we won were pitching duels, where we showed little ability to hit the ball. Among all the AAC tournament teams (including some already eliminated), except for UH, we’ve probably scored the fewest runs of any during the tournament.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 10:55 pmYou know, sometimes we need to stop whining and just tip our caps to a guy who pitched a masterful game today. I really hope a change is made after the season. If Dannen buy into the “this is a young team, 2nd place in the AAC, etc. let’s bring him back” then he’s a loser.
I won’t watch if Jewett is back next year

We've played TWO GAMES. Geez. We've also only given up 6 runs. Guess you'd rather be Cincy? They scored 19 runs in two games. Too bad they gave up 27 and are already home on their couch. Would that be better?HoustonWave wrote: ↑Thu May 27, 2021 11:02 pmThen we have faced masterful pitchers for the better part of 8 straight games. The problem is our lack of hitting—averaging two runs per game won’t cut it. Our pitching has been excellent. Even giving up 5 runs against USF shouldn’t condemn us, but it does with our anemic hitting.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 7:27 amWe've played TWO GAMES. Geez. We've also only given up 6 runs. And the opposite can be said of Cincy.HoustonWave wrote: ↑Fri May 28, 2021 9:07 amThe problem is our lack of hitting—averaging two runs per game won’t cut it. Our pitching has been excellent. The problem is their lack of pitching -- giving up 13.5 runs per game won't cut it. Their hitting has been excellent (9.5 runs per game). Scoring 10 runs against UCF should have been enough to win, but its not with their anemic pitching.
My point being, two games is not a legit statistical sample. For example, if you're just going to base it on two games, why is Luis Aviles even ON the team? I mean, 0-7, with 7 strikeouts? I could just as well. But that's not how you judge it. Stop already with the recency bias. You think ECU threw up their hands in despair on Tuesday because they got run-ruled by MEMPHIS?
The fact of the matter is, with Bennett Lee out of the lineup, its a major loss. Not only was he potentially the best freshman in the country, everyone else played better with him in the lineup.
