D-1 still has us going to the “Big Dance”?

And, now @ Ruston?
RPI Watch
I watched LSU beat La Tech last night. LSU is now 12-0 in midweek games. That would be a great regional for us. Very winnable. We are better now then we first played Tech and they are on the decline. Ole Miss would be a tough opener thoughWave755 wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 7:46 am D-1 still has us going to the “Big Dance”?

I think the RPI discussion is overblown. Win the regular season and at least one game in the conference tournament and we're in. Come in 2nd, and go to the AAC Tournament final and we're in. Win the conference tournament and we're in. Anything else, we're not in. RPI be damned.

Tulane is a good team but not a regional team. Benoit did not have it and coach left him in too long. He was constantly behind hitters and UCF has alot of power hitters. Also, team seemed to be more interested interacting with the students instead of being focused. This will prove to be a killshot loss.

Good teams make the tournament. Some teams that aren’t even that good make it.rollinggreen wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 7:42 pm Tulane is a good team but not a regional team. Not enough good hitters on the team. 6 through 9 inthe lineup average .192 as a group. Good pitching will eat up this lineup.

I hope we win at least 3 games this weekend . Looks like LSU has played their way back in. RPI of #18 now for those guys. I see 1)La Tech 2)LSU 3)Tulane 4)Southeastern in Ruston.
Would be of great regional interest.

LSU needs to win 2 this weekend to give them selves a chance.

D1 baseball has us in the Austin Regional with LSU taking our spot in Ruston.
We have very little room for error. We must win 3 of 4.

There's no question we have to win 3 out of 4 this weekend. Do what we need to do in this series and worry about the conf. tourney later.

D1’s present projection for us to have a reunion in Austin (Texas, Bryant, UCLA & Tulane) with our old coach Dave Pierce would be interesting. https://d1baseball.com/postseason/proje ... 64-may-18/

How accurate are these various forecasts of which teams end up in which Regionals? It seems like a crapshoot to try to place so many teams with so many sites. Kind of like the "experts" with the NFL draft. After the first couple of picks nobody has a clue, but they write their mock drafts (and we read them!)

And they're always super tough at home. I remember there was a time when they played virtually no road games except for conference play.Wave755 wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 1:03 pmYep, Texas is 38 -12 and ranked no. 2 by D1 this week.tpstulane wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 11:04 amThat would be a tough one.Wave755 wrote: ↑Wed May 19, 2021 5:18 am D1’s present projection for us to have a reunion in Austin (Texas, Bryant, UCLA & Tulane) with our old coach Dave Pierce would be interesting. https://d1baseball.com/postseason/proje ... 64-may-18/

I tend to agree D. Because both we and ECU are so far ahead of the rest of the AAC pack, if both teams avoid a collapse in the tournament, it would be easy for the selection committee to just invite both teams and move on.DfromCT wrote: ↑Sat May 15, 2021 6:25 am I think the RPI discussion is overblown. Tulane is the University of Louisiana
If we win the Regular Season title we're in. If not likely need to make the conference final against ECU.
