This. Tulsa may have some on the field/court value, but it's not that valuable in terms of viewership/revenue, and, due to its enrolment and living alumni base, there is a low cap on how much of a benefit a program of that size can provide itself or its conference. That being said, I'm not a fan of kicking them out, however, if the AAC decided to expand to the western part of the US, Tulsa would be the obvious school to remove in order to make room for a group of 4 programs.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 1:16 am+1.hullabaloo wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:40 pm Some of you are a great bunch of "fans"...good grief, sooo negative. Hunter inherited a steaming pile of crap from Dunleavy. The damage he did cannot be understated, and Hunter is digging out of the whole Dunleavy left as we speak. When Hunter turns this program around, there's a lot of knuckleheads on here who will be eating crow.
I also don;t disagree Tulsa has in recent history been a far superior basketball ( and football) school then us. Thats not the point, if it was then why isn't USM in the AAC? The AAC is a business, and it has a criteria. Of whats left over from the P5 -Schools that play in big markets are the priority, with points for current success, past history, region, academics and fan base to a lesser degree. Growth potential and eyeballs are also huge. With that being said- guess what, USM isn't getting invited to the party. Tulsa doesn't really fit the model either as its a small private school with no money. Also Big east schools used to rag on Tulane and Tulsa to recruits.

Thanks tps. Original 6 year deal means that there probably was no extension for Dunleavy.
Right but 6 years was too long to begin with.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Tue Mar 30, 2021 9:11 am Thanks tps. Original 6 year deal means that there probably was no extension for Dunleavy.

Ole Troy is a regular Santa Claus. He must have some deep seeded aversion to conducting coaching searches.
Tulane is the University of Louisiana
these "extensions" are a personal license marketing plan, by TD, to get endorsements from Viagara and Cialis

I now understand the reason for the extension, Tulane is truly the "foundation" of college basketball, as tweeted by Carlin Hartman
