Since he is the head coach, he better be optimistic. Hopefully, he has some knock down shooters. It will definitely be a young team. Maybe that will be better than a bunch of one and done grad transfers. May Sion James be even better than advertised.

It's not about him being the HC. He's just overstated and the point is it's good to take his comments with a grain of salt. We certainly need shooters. Hopefully at least one of them can actually be a good shooter.

He needs another 1-2 years. Losing his best player this year (the Ole murder charge) and a couple transfers (the ole covid- let’s go pro overseas) already on a thin team leads to a better team then last year, but he needs more time.

‘Tis the season to be optimistic or what’s the point?
Losing the Pitt transfer wasn’t that big a deal from what my Pitt friends tell me but a player like Hightower who had a year under coach’s system won’t be easy to replace. As we saw last year, transfers can mentally float in and out game by game. James does look promising but Coleman appears to be so skinny that a stiff breeze could knock him over so not expecting much out of him. Hoping Walker and Days bring some consistency and one of last year’s freshmen can step up.

That freshman from last year might be Pope.

Had the pleasure last year to be at Devlin for the SMU game. Walker was outstanding that night. When he's on, he's truly ON.

We'll be playing a 20 game double round robin schedule:

Apparently the ncaa is close to adopting a one time transfer and play immediately waiver for all players. I think this will end up being a big boon for hunter ans his staff from a recruiting standpoint. I know they could use a couple more transfers.

Edit: apparently it’s for all sports. https://www.google.com/amp/s/theathleti ... %3Famp%3D1

Jankovic granted immediate eligibility:

This should help some.

Does anyone know if our walk-on Gallic left the team?

I feel bad for this but I never feel like a coach that is fat and therefore undisciplined in his own eating and training habits can convey discipline on student athletes. I’m sure this is a stupid take but I can’t help feeling this way. The coach has unlimited access to dietary and workout stuff including trainers who can give him a plan. Really think there is no excuse for being overweight unless it’s thyroid related.

Perry got fat, Finney got fat, Conroy got fat, Scelfo got fat, Toledo got fat etc. I think it’s the New Orleans food more than anything.

Aren’t you making my point and I wasn’t talking about exclusively Tulane. Look at Mike McCarthy who is totally obese and quickly losing his players’ respect.
I’m sure there are many examples both supporting and refuting my point but I just feel it would be making a point for a coach to stay in shape themselves.

Food is no excuse for being fat, burn the calories you take in like we expect student athletes to do!!!

I guess.
I think it’s definitely a discipline thing. Congrats to Coach Jewett who looks like he lost about 30-40lbs.

I had a Dr in the Navy once tell me I needed to lose 5 or so pounds. He was close to 300 LBs and smelled like an ash tray. Might have been inspired to heed his advice had he been willing to heed it himself.

One more question does anybody like these pullover short sleeve tuckless abominations that coaches are wearing these days. They would make Pee Wee Herman look fat.

Crazy how short Otan is in this video compared to several of our other players. I feel like we haven’t had any (athletic) height on our team in a long time. Otan is 6-10, 6-11 ? Who are the other tall guys Ibi ali ?

Edit: koka is still on the team ? Ugh, I thought that he graduated or left. That experiment from Dunleavy

Dickie Longo for me an example of what a coach should be, I respect!

All home games will be on ESPN in some fashion. For us I'm sure most will be on ESPN+. Same thing for conference road games.
