And, recall how not so long ago Brett Farve used to make fun of us on both national radio and television? :P
He was hanging around in the stadium

I remember Favre's first game at USM oh too well. Glad to see a Green Wave freshman QB come off the bench to beat USM in that stadium.

IDK Wave QB, 96 to 37 for our last 2 meetings is one Hell of a start!

And Wave QB, did you make my list of Tulane greats for quarterback?🤔 And, I am now confident Michael Pratt will be there along with the other greats when all is said and done. :D

The game I remeber was in the Dome the USM strater got hurt...the Freshman comes in and the rest is history, some of which I would like to forget...I do remember "Farve4Heisman" signs and banners...especially after he beat FSU in Tallahassee

"Nut, I remember the game being at Hattiesburg and then USM coach, Jim Carmody, just deciding to "give the freshman, Brett Farve, a shot."

And, that's the way the author of the attached Clarion Herald article remembers it too.
I listened to that game on the radio, we had the game well under control until that "Farve kid" came in off the bench. And, the rest is "history."🤷‍♂️ :D

Favre was the third or fourth QB for USM that day. Simmie Carter, West Jeff alum, was the second QB in for USM.

Interesting thing was that Farve was actually listed as a DB on the roster. Carter eventually played DB and had a great career at that position later once Farve emerged as QB. Alirick Young started that day for USM. They only had 3 QB’s play all year in 1987. Farve, Young and Carter.
