Let’s not overlook anyone but this should be a W. They haven’t beaten anyone but their record isn’t as bad as it looks (2-6) as they just played in a brutal tourney against Gonzaga and several other good teams. It’s on Conf USA All Access . . . Man I don’t miss all access
Tulane MBB beats USM 61-56
Their new coach was SELA's coach who beat us last year. Payback time Coach Hunter.

You know all that money you lost betting the OVER on Tulane's football season win total? Now's your chance to get it back. Well, most of it anyway. The money you were going to use to buy your wife's Christmas gift? Invest it here. Here's your second GreenLantern-stone-cold-lock of the basketball season:
Final score: Tulane 77 - USM 60
You're welcome.
- Tulane outshoots USM by a wide margin from the field...especially from 3pt land. We're also a much better FT shooting team
- Tulane is a higher scoring team than USM. Although we have started slowly, we have been a second-half team. USM is very poor in the second half...lack of bench depth.
- Tulane is ranked 11th nationally in forcing turnovers...currently averaging 19 per game.
- USM's only statistical edge is rebounding...both on the offensive and defensive side.
Final score: Tulane 77 - USM 60
You're welcome.
Considering the 2 wins are against non-division 1 competition, one might proffer that their record is worse than it looks too.Bicoastalwave wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 5:04 pm

They've lost to 3 or 4 really good teams; and a couple other teams.

Knock on wood, -2 seems absurd. I’m all in on this one

USM has played a tough schedule. The game is starting about 30 minutes late because womens game went late.

I think only on CUSA all-access

Tulane leads 30-24 at the half. Their defense is pretty salty for a young team. Look for us to distance ourselves from them in the second half.

The current line has Tulane favored by 1.5 points and the O/U at 138. Tulane wins by at least 15 and the game goes UNDER.

We do an amazing job of generating turnovers while not fouling. On the postgame they were also saying how Jordan walker has been so amazing shooting and off the ball they don’t want him playing pg right now and have Thompson bringing the ball up. Nice problem to have. We were also not expecting them to full court press all game (or at all). Solid win. Their loses are to good teams.
St Louis, Akron & Liberty will be great tests. Liberty won a game in the ncaa tourney last year and is supposed to be better this year.

Tulane nearly made this a nail-biter. They didn't make a FG in the last 4 minutes of the game. USM narrowed the Wave's 13 point lead to as little as 4.
Fair crowd at USM. I asked two USM fans if the crowd size was typical and both replied that from two years ago, attendance had been reduced by half. They're excited about their new coach who has his very young and immature team playing some pretty scrappy defense.
I prefer Devlin to the much larger but wacky-shaped arena at USM with the round floor configuration and the utility shed which serves as their ticket boxoffice. Tip of the hat to their fans as they love their team. Great band too.

Good memories in that old arena. I was watching DePaul last night . They have an amazing looking 10k seat arena .

The band may have been OK at the game, but listening on the radio, it was deafening. During breaks, Andrew Allegretta would talk about game status and the band was so loud, I had to turn down the radio. They must sit them right behind the visitor announcer. Reed-Green does have a strange round shape. I often imagined they originally designed it to be able to host rodeos.GreenLantern wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2019 11:39 pm Tulane nearly made this a nail-biter.
