Can anyone offer a rational explanation for how you give this guy an extension?

No rational explanation. Just the irrational explanation that you’ve already cited—Dannen is lazy, and doesn’t care.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Wed Jun 02, 2021 11:56 pm Can anyone offer a rational explanation for how you give this guy an extension?

And how many of those wins came against bottom dwellers? How many conference championships, tournament championships, or Regional invites did we get from the last 72 games? Dannen is just trying to rationalize his poor judgement and gutless stewardship of Tulane athletics.

Definitely put a lot of weight on last seasons Spring Training games.HoustonWave wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:37 amAnd how many of those wins came against bottom dwellers? I think next season going to be a struggle with all the pitchers we going to have to replace. Hitting should be fine.
I can’t see a Regional next year either. Hope I’m wrong.
Be proactive, being reactive is for losers..

Unless something really weird happens and we get back some of the pitchers we should be losing next year looks really rough. Let the new guy come in and get a handle on the situation so they can right the ship faster.

ProWiz is right, Dannen is going to use the Justin Campbell fiasco as the reason for giving TJ another shot. So not only did we not get Campbell, we get stuck with TJ for at least another year. Tulane'd twice by the same f#$k up.

DID he get an extension?. At least they offered Manuri a choice when they put the pistol on his desk.

Who knows? Apparently Dannen doesn’t have the nads to decide, or perhaps just announce his decision, yet. While many programs move on with their decisions about their future baseball coaches, Dannen just keeps pulling fish out of his lake. I wonder if Jewett already knows he’ll be retained, or is he in limbo like the rest of the Tulane athletic world?

I do not think Jake G will be the HC at Rice...looks like they will stay "instate' to name their next head man...and it may be a member of the UT staff

It was posted elsewhere that he is out of the running for the Rice job.

Do we know the following to be absolutely true?
1. Jewett's contract expires or expired right around the end of the season? He hasn't already been extended? If he was and it wasn't announced, I'd be surprised if it didn't slip out somewhere in course of conversations or interviews.
2. That TD hasn't been in New Orleans the last few weeks but has been at a lake house he owns who knows where? All kidding aside, how does someone know this to be fact?
3. There has been any search for a new coach?
It seems to me like these three items are posted here repeatedly. I'm just curious about the accuracy. I think TJ or TD was supposed to be at a recent Greenbackers meeting. Were any of these items discussed?

I’m not quite sure what you mean by #3
I’d say that it is extremely unlikely that Tulane has done any searching for a new coach

What I meant was this: When anyone starts searching for a new coach a lot of contacts are made behind the scenes with phone calls, emails, etc. feeling out interest and availability. With the number of contacts made, there's bound to be leaks about a search. Particularly if there's been contact with coaches with deep local roots.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 1:05 pm We Definitely don’t know 1 or 2 to be absolutely true.

Why would TD shout from the mountain tops that he extended a coach that can’t sniff the postseason. They either already signed or they have an agreement verbally. There’s absolutely no smoke. Baseball is de-emphasized. Some fools blew a bunch of money for a useless ballpark .

Several people have asked him on Twitter. He said that he expects no change
But if there was news to break, he wouldn’t break it anyway
Had zero info on the baseball coaching search last go round. Didn’t break the news that Dunleavy was fired, that Hunter was hired etc.
Tulane fiscal year ends June 30th. So July 1st would be the official date Jewett would need to be extended.

And Billy Mohl is headed to a super regional. Good for him! Maybe one day we will see it again, but I doubt it. I am getting the feeling that this is the end of the Tulane baseball program. Never looking to a regional, super or world series will be the norm. I'm sick
