The good thing about this change in when we play is that only Solesky will be pitching on short rest. We need the starters to go deep in these games. After that UNO debacle we really need to sweep. The tough part of the schedule starts next weekend. Let's get momentum going into it.

Hate to see that. Now Roper will be on short rest for ECU. We have to sweep tomorrow.

So, how does the “one less conference game”
potentially affect the conference title possibilities?

Yep. Seven days is the norm at this level.

Um, well aware. 6 is not an issue. You throw several sides during the week on seven. Not to mention friday starters often throw on Thurs....and ur second starter may go sat-fri. Wouldn’t that have occured just this week?

Yep and it's till short rest. The concern here is it's one thing to have to go on short rest against Memphis than it is against a really good ECU. That series will be very important to us if we take care of business today and this week. So I'd just have preferred everyone to be on their normal schedule. In fact I was hoping we'd have one extra day of rest if the series had started on Thursday like it was supposed to.

So lets skip Roper completely and start Gillies and Solesky today. Problem solved.

We need the sweep today so it should be Roper in the first game.

Horrible start 7-0 Memphis up in the 2nd in a 7 inning game.
Roper got pounded.

Combination of hit batter, walks and singles. The wildness and inconsistency continues. Painful.

If this is not the worst pitching staff in the nation, then I would really like to know who is worse. This team despite it's good hitting is going NOWHERE!

If even five dollars of scholarship money went to any so called pitcher on this staff then it was money wasted!

8 runs ought to get you a win. 11-8 in the 6th.

We lose game one 11 to 8. We give up 7 runs in the 2nd inning from a combination of more terrible pitching and a fielding error. Story of this season.

Does run rule apply to Saturday getaway games? It must, otherwise there would have been no reason to do a 7 inning first game. Wave currently leads second game 19-3 in top of the sixth.

So can they just call this game due to mercy rule and fit in a 3rd game today ;)

What I don't get is, if there isn't a time constraint on todays game, why only play a 7 inning first game? That may well have cost us a win, the way we're capable of scoring.

Final: Wave gains a split mercy ruling Memphis 20-5. It’s a shame we have little pitching this season. This is the best hitting Tulane team from 1 thru 9 I can remember.
