The University of Louisiana System Board of Governors Athletic Board committee will vote Thursday on proposed contract extension for UL football coach Billy Napier that would bring his compensation for 2021 to $2 million.

I think he's as good a (college) HC as there is in the state of Louisiana. The only college football program in the state that could afford to hire him away sits about 55 miles to the East of Lafayette.

As I posted here in another thread coaches salaries are mostly from the fundraising arms of the universities.

Small time facilities for small time programs
6-4-23:Now all of the mistakes Tulane has made finally catches up with them as they descend to CUSAAC.
The Cajun athletic facilities are really great and now adding $65 million to recreate the FB stadium……..the opportunity awaits the UL team this year as they will start the season in the top 20 after finishing about 15th last season……..Quality depth is present and experience at all positions makes for a great future…….We will see starting with Texas early September!

ULALA "bubble bursts" on 9/4 against Texas, then back to being a "pumpkin." The only thing ULALA really has going for it is being in the Joke Sunbelt West Division. ULALA lost to Coastal Carolina last year in the regular season and Covid-19 saved it from a second loss to the CC Chanticleers in the Mighty 'Belt Championship game. Squeaking by UTSA in a "who cares?" bowl game only confirms ULALA is an "empty pirogue." And, USN&WR has it right for ULALA ranking of #298-#389 in National Universities. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/un ... yette-2031
ULL takes far and away the largest rake from the general fund among the state schools. ULL is betting they can make a move now.
I doubt it works, but we'll see. But one thing is for sure, their fans will blame Tulane if it doesn't.
