I’d take it. Anything better than staying in CUSAAC.

I seem to recall a discussion in the 80s where Tulane had expressed interest in joining the ACC. At that point the conference had not expanded beyond Virginia, Carolinas and Georgia and expressed concern about the extended travel to N.O. Who knows if it was seriously discussed then.

Absolutely. Sounds like a great alternative to our current march to the athletic gallows. The key question in your scenario is when will FSU, Miami, and Clemson make the jump? Also, if they do, I have to think the ACC will hold their nose and invite WVa--so maybe they'll want a strong academic offset to that academic surrender.
I think the schools mentioned already have their attorneys looking for a way out of "media rights" ....I also think FSU and Clemson to the SEC going to happen..not sure about Miami, even tho they have a top 25 TV market, and then again maybe that is why they will get an invite..... I think WVA to the ACC will happen, that gives PITT a backyard playmate and allows Memphis, or USF into the big12....
I read somewhere that the SEC schools have some kind of problem with Miami's NIL strategy--what's that all about? It's hard to imagine any school or conference having any strategy that even the SEC can't tolerate.

If they're calling whatever Miami is doing dirty, rotten, or beyond the spirit of the rules, you can bet they'll all be doing it within a year.

Miami and FSU aren’t the attractive ones. Clemson and UNC would be the ones they want. First UF has a lot of say in that conference and they won’t want to see fellow in-state schools. But I think Notre Dame will be the next school targeted by the SEC.

The days of a school being able to block another are over. Texas got in and you know A&M didn;'t want them. If ND goes to a conference it will be the BIG.

The Big Ten has a historical reputation of excluding Catholics. I wouldn't bet on them joining the "big joke". 75 million is a wonderful number for them to remain independent for football.

The BIG very much wants ND and has for some time. They have finished their moves for now because they are waiting for ND to decide. They are willing to wait two years for that decision.

Wow. No mention of Tulane in either link. The AAC had its chance to poach the Big 12 into nonexistence but failed. If USF and SDS move to the Big 12 out fate will be sealed.

ND doesn't want anything to do with the Big Ten after they got shafted a century ago. The next move for them will be to decide if they can stay as an independent. If not, they will look at either the ACC or possibly SEC. If they don't join the ACC, that conference will fall apart and see schools like Clemson, UNC, FSU, and Miami move elsewhere.

Also UF has a lot more sway in the SEC compared to A&M. Plus FSU and Miami aren't bringing in the revenue like OU/UT and Clemson would add.

Our fate has pretty much already been sealed at this point, unless football and basketball have big seasons which still might not be enough. The school doesn't have enough in administration and alumini/boosters who care enough to make athletics a major priority. We'll always be the nice little friendly school in uptown NOLA with very good academics.

Tulane is an attractive product IF the administration (board) wants it. That is the great unknown and, as everything with Tulane, it's always silence.

That sounds like pretty good gig. The players can enjoy themselves for a few years without anybody really caring whether they win or lose. Enjoy the city Boys! You've earned it....

The AAC didn't have a chance to poach it. They were still guaranteed their $24 million a year and as evidenced by UT and OU not moving on because of the GOR and the cost to buy out no one else was leaving too.

Times have changed.. I follow ND as closely as I follow Tulane. All the talk from the BIG and ND is about ND going there. ND is asking for the $75 million because they know that's what it will take to keep up with the BIG and the SEC. If they get that they'll stay independent. If they can't get that or close to it they will go to the BIG. However if the access to the playoff gets changed in a way that would shut them out then even if they got the $75 million they would still jump to the BIG. They would never associate with the schools in the SEC. As to the ACC they'll never get the money there necessary to keep up with the Big 2. As to the ACC no one is leaving because they all gave their GOR to the ACC till 2036 .

That was a speculative article from a site named awful announcing. Consider the source. Aresco did talk the talk but as I said here then it wasn't going to happen for the reasons I posted above and it didn't happen for those reasons. So the AAC didn't blow its chance. it never had one.
