Re: Temple Game 2 Thread

Tulane very lucky no fans allowed in Philly. Imagine the scene with a packed house memorializing John Chaney

Re: Houston Game 2 Thread

Hunter’s quotes in that article are pretty powerful. He’s suffered and he’s really concerned about the kids on his team.

Re: 2020 Basketball Preseason Thread

‘Tis the season to be optimistic or what’s the point? Losing the Pitt transfer wasn’t that big a deal from what my Pitt friends tell me but a player like Hightower who had a year under coach’s system won’t be easy to replace. As we saw last year, transfers can mentally float in and out game by game....

Some folks have short memories. The Ivy League were the first to cancel their basketball tournament. Anyone remember what happened next?

Re: Ron Hunter Speaks

Excellent article. It’s so interesting that Hunter and Dunleavy both valued ROE as a point guard more than fans did (myself included). Sadly, that implies that Walker is an undersized shooting guard.

Re: Teshaun Hightower

I do not have a twitter account but can read all of the Tulane coaches tweets since they keep their accounts public. However today I noticed that Coach Hunter blocked his twitter account from public view so that only approved followers can see his tweets. I wonder why he did that as I assume it has...

Re: Ben Callahan-Gold

He's a role player on a team that competes with the best of the best PG Prep schools, like Brewster Academy, Mt. Zion, New Hampton, etc. All these schools are loaded with D1 talent. He's got talent, or he wouldn't even be on that team, but we need to start picking off some of the stars from these b...

NOT excusing Hightower’s actions but this seems like it fits the pattern of over-charging that’s prevalent in much of the country.

Re: Teshaun Hightower

Some of these conclusions are crazy.

The only thing that’s clear is that for some kids, being home with nothing to do is going to lead to bad outcomes (though this may be as bad as it gets).

Re: Teshaun Hightower

Agree that he won't be drafted but I'm not so sure he'll be back. He was very inconsistent, shot under 30% from 3 (on a lot of shots) and didn't seem to have a lot of answers when defenses stacked up to prevent him driving to the hoop. With a bunch of other guards coming on board and coming up, he ...

Re: Does budget cutting begin in athletics if this continues into the early fall?

There's a whole lot of debate about whether or not they could play NCAA football without fans in the stands. Hopefully we will be back to "normal" (whatever that turns out to be) by that time. Maybe they only allow students, keeping social distance, in the stands. Maybe they don't play un...

Re: Does budget cutting begin in athletics if this continues into the early fall?

It’s probably already begun. Cincinnati just cut its Men’s Soccer Program.

College is going to be irrevocably altered so there’s no reason why college sports won’t be as well.

Re: Basketball: Does Anyone Else Wonder?

Interesting question. Frazier would have had a field-day in this kind of match up zone. Imagine the havoc he would have created and the breakaway dunks he'd have gotten? Cam would be sinking a ton of threes and Daniels would have been the drive guy and really benefited from actual coaching. Not sure...

Re: Streak Over- Tulane Beats SMU 80-72

The season has been defined by Walker’s performances. When he’s been good, everyone else plays in a more natural position, the spacing is better and he’s creating for others with penetration. When he’s been bad (or in Hunter’s doghouse) the offense has looked terrible. Makes me wonder if Coach is ta...

Good team on a run playing at home trying to save their NCAA bid vs poor team in a slump with nothing to play for. Should have bet the house on the Shockers.
