Re: Auburn vs Oregon

Costs are minuscule once you have the production equipment and infrastructure in place. I read where most of the AAC schools already have this infrastructure. Even if they don’t it is a one time purchase whose costs can be amortized over twenty five to thirty years. Production costs are the least of...

Re: Packin' the Bags ?

I believe Fritz is very happy at Tulane and it would take an incredible offer for him to leave. I do not want to lose him but if at some point he decides to leave we could easily poach successful head coaches in conferences like C-USA or the Sun Belt. With the new AAC tv contract there is a clear se...

Re: Graff leaving Tulane for Pels

Wow so either IMG’s first choice had an issue with TD or something he said or vice-versa? Not good. How will the new guy if not already familiar with Tulane football get caught up with or develop a rapport with the coaches and team with so few days left until kickoff? Someone has handled this proces...

Re: Eddie Smith

If we have a more desirable head coaching job in baseball when compared to football than surely we can hire a high quality coach without all of the liabilities and baggage of Cannizzaro. Let’s conduct a national search and find a highly qualified candidate like we did with David Pierce. Cannizzaro w...

Re: Eddie Smith

You guys can keep pushing for Cannizaro all you want but it is not going to happen and must not happen. Tulane is not going to hire the Bobby Petrino of college baseball when we can conduct a national search and hire the Willie Fritz of college baseball instead. Tulane would not hire Petrino for foo...

Re: Eddie Smith

Petrino did a horrible job last year at Louisville. He went 2 and 8 before getting fired because he essentially quit on the team. The team was in complete disarray and things were going down hill fast. Louisville decided things were so bad they had to fire Petrino even though the university owes him...

Re: Eddie Smith

LOL so Andy has one good year and then completely screws over his players in only his second year at MSU and you are ready to let him coach at Tulane? This is embarassing!! Andy is the Bobby Petrino version of college baseball and Louisville just fired Petrino for letting the program go to hell in a...

Re: Eddie Smith

Profoundwizard I gave you very practical reasons in my post above why Andy will never be the coach at Tulane and my reasons had nothing to do with morality. Conversely it had everything to do with how Andy negatively impacted the MSU baseball team, the athletic department, and the university. I woul...

Re: Eddie Smith

Andy will never be a coach at Tulane for good reason and it has nothing to do with “just” an affair. Andy had an affair with a subordinate athletic department employee, which could expose a university to major litigation. Furthermore Andy disobeyed his boss when the MSU AD found out about it and tol...

Re: Eddie Smith

Things must be in complete free fall with Jewett and the baseball program if our top assistant coach is taking a volunteer coaching position at LSU, Since Eddie was our hitting coach and hitting was our one positive from last season I am going to assume he is a quality coach. What highly qualified a...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

On the $10 million exit fee likely to be around $12 to $15 million if UConn leaves the conference before the next 27 months I hope the AAC requires either that UConn wire the funds into their account or that UConn hands over a cashier’s check. I would not except a regular check from UConn for the ex...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

UConn brings nothing to the table for football only membership and kills strength of schedule. UCF, Houston, Memphis, etc. will not allow UConn football to stay around any longer than is absolutely necessary. Look for the AAC to stay pat at eleven members for the foreseeable future. Navy AD and form...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

UConn leaving the AAC is great for the football teams in the conference. They have a dismal football program and hurt the AAC’s brand in this sport. For men’s basketball they have not had a good season for several years now. I would much rather see Tulane play Houston, Memphis, and Cincinatti before...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

The AAC should stay at eleven teams. No need to add anyone as we can just eliminate the separate divisions and have the two teams with the best conference records play in the AAC championship game.. The ESPN contract will not be impacted in any significant way as Aresco added language to the contrac...

Is LSU one of the dirtiest programs in Division One athletics? If not it sure seems like they are at least in the top ten.

This probably means we’re going to get Kenny Trahan or Larry Matson as his replacement. Graff will be missed.

Re: 2019 FB Schedule

Does anyone know Dannen’s philosophy when it comes to football scheduling? I am impressed with USF in that they have future 2 for 1’s scheduled with Alabama, Florida, and Miami. I like how USF has upgraded their schedule. Instead of doing these 1 off buy games like we did with Ohio State last season...

Re: 2019 FB Schedule

Why are we scheduling these one off pay to play away games like we did with Ohio State last season and Auburn this season? We should have scheduled these teams to 2 for 1 deals. The one game in New Orleans might have to be played in the Superdome if these teams won’t agree to play in Yulman. One hom...

Re: TD Fire TJ

Do we know any details of Jewett’s contract with Tulane? I
would guess that he has one year remaining on a four year contract. It would be hard to believe that Dannen gave Jewett one of his crazy six year contracts like he gave to Dunleavy.

Re: Last Annual Camp

LSU does not want us hosting camps with premier out of state programs as they are worried they could lose some top recruits. They threw a major fit several years ago when we were going to host a camp with Michigan. We have leverage on this issue.

Re: Last Annual Camp

Why don’t we use the football camps as leverage when scheduling? If LSU wants these football camps to continue and not have us look out of state then they need to schedule us or instead we will hold football camps with Alabama, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, etc. and have at least a 2 for 1 series where the...

Re: 2019 AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

We could probably buy Zephyr Field at a nice discount if we wanted to since the minor league team is leaving after this season. Tulane would need to put some money into making repairs and updates to the stadium but it might be worth it we can buy it at the right price.

Re: TD Fire TJ

Loved Gautreau as a player but do not want him as our head coach. We can do much better. Matt Deggs at Sam Houston State would take the Tulane job in a heart beat. Deggs would be a home run hire.
