Re: Memphis Series Thread

Tulane's poor performance isn't the only one: https://www.nola.com/sports/tulane/tulane-baseball-is-not-alone-in-having-a-terrible-performing-season-in-the-aac/article_0089f5b8-cf36-11ed-b1da-73f072a93087.html So the season is basically over. We should start to prepare now for the conference tourna...

There are 2 things significant about this article: the writer (whoever he is) thinks Coach Fritz is #1 and 4 of the 5 are in the AAC.

Re: Forbes -NBA

I believe Forbes and Cook both did this last year and both found that they would not be drafted. Was Forbes a lot better this year? Somewhat, but still very streaky. Cook's main problem is height, and that's not changing; which is probably why he's staying in school through the portal.

Re: Cook - Portal

Won't Cook have to sit out a year? UConn is a bit of a surprise in that Danny Hurley had never won an NCAA tournament game before this season. He's got the Huskies playing great ball, as they were at the start of the season when they crushed Alabama. They were #2 before a tough stretch in Big East ...

Getting back to the incident that initiated this thread, the fact that the incident happened after the game was over apparently made it a clear assault and it's being treated as such by authorities.

Re: Memphis WBB NIT handshake turns ugly

Memphis was being investigated because of suspicions in a couple of games. One against Detroit was one that I remember. I seem to recall that there were allegations about connections Dana Kirk had with some Las Vegas bookies. Regardless, the point is that because Memphis was being investigated for p...

Re: 2023 AAC Post Season Mens Basketball

Coach Hunter's weak OOC schedule is all about ego. He has said so. He has not been willing to schedule teams that are not willing to give us a return home game the following year. Will he change that attitude next year? It seems to me that the first step is to get into the NCAA by any means necessar...

Re: Memphis WBB NIT handshake turns ugly

Let's not forget that Memphis St and Dana Kirk were at the heart of the point shaving scandal that led to the Hot Rod Williams revelations and the suspension of our program. The are little more than the Memphis Municipal Athletic Club disguised as a school so they can compete in the NCAA.

Re: Memphis WBB NIT handshake turns ugly

Let me reiterate, I don't think any P5s are in a hurry to scoop up Memphis. Academically and socially, it does not improve any conference. They are a step above Marshall, but not by much. At least the altercation with the men's team was internal to their bench.

No legitimate university is going to publicly and loudly announce that they are lowering their academic standards for athletics. Its not something to actually be proud of. You quietly do it, which has been noted was already done. Any negotiations with another conference would be made well aware of w...

Re: Tulane being considered for the Big 12?

If A&M were forced to look elsewhere to get away from UT, that would really stink for them and LSU. I hate LSU as much as most of us, but they have a long history with A&M that was allowed to renew when A&M joined the SEC (to get away from UT).

Re: SMU to the PAC-12 discussions

I think the IPF balloon will also be used for intramural play. No way it will just sit there unused between practices. I wonda why it will take until Novmeber to have it inflated I would hope the students could use it when the athletic dept is not. That's a real win-win for everyone. Students would...

There is a field next to the Diboll lot, in front of Reily center, that has artificial turf on it and students use it to play soccer. Ironically, it's where the Sugar Bowl field used to be.

I don't think I understand what you think you have to hear. We have an IPF coming as early as November. The football locker rooms and coaches offices are being rebuilt right now. NO ONE is ever going to negotiate conference realignment issues publicly; why would Tulane? SMU and San Diego St aren't m...

FAU joining the AAC next season. Memphis wasn’t going far in the tournament anyway. Penny is a lousy coach. FDU vs FAU should be a good one.
He is definitely a lousy coach. Remember when he had to bring in 110-year-old Larry Brown to run the team.

Re: SMU to the PAC-12 discussions

There is usually a single theme/event to each realignment and that has to resolve itself before anything else is done. The theme this time is PAC contract and survival. Since that has yet to be resolved, no one else is willing to make commitments in an unclear environment. Once it's over (one way or...
