Re: Tulane Beats WSU in the CCG 11-10! Champs!

The nine-hole hitter is usually the worse hitter in the lineup--excluding of course pinch hitters or someone hitting for the pitcher. I could not agree more. That's why I have stated that Uhlman has used an unusual, but far from unheard of strategy of putting (or keeping) a good and hot hitter in t...

Re: Tulane Beats WSU in the CCG 11-10! Champs!

Where you hit in the batting order can take away 1 AB in a game at most. Again, you're trying to fix a strategy that's been working to perfection. You probably don't realize that nobody walks the #9 hitter to get to the top of the order. There are other reasons for putting a good hitter at the bott...

Re: Tulane Beats WSU in the CCG 11-10! Champs!

His infield shifts have often allowed hits to go to the spaces we vacate. Many posters here and elsewhere have posted about that last year and this. We haven't had outfield shifts to cut off balls in the gap just some good individual efforts. What we did have was him playing Schulz in the outfield ...

Re: Tulane Beats WSU in the CCG 11-10! Champs!

Bingo Winwave. It does matter how we win. Maybe Uhlman has a unique talent of motivating and peaking the team at the right time, or maybe he/we have just been lucky two years in a row. But a strong program displays consistent and good fundamentals throughout the entire season against strong competi...

I agree that Uhlman shouldn't be given a new contract or extension, but let's just cut down on the bashing for a little while. He will be back deserves to be back.

Enjoy the victory and CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP!

Re: Tulane Beats WSU in the CCG 11-10! Champs!

Whether you like him or not, you cannot deny that Jay Uhlman has earned his job at this point and should no longer be considered Jewett's assistant. This team and the one that won the AAC tourney a year ago have a special bond that Jewett's teams never showed. This team can play with anyone. I'm no...

Re: NCAA Avalanche players now want a piece of the $2 billion payout

I may be wrong, but this feels like the last season we have to stake a claim outside of the G5. We have to win big, get into the playoff and win a game in the playoff. Then MAYBE we'll get enough attention to get into the 2nd 2 of the P4 when the top 2 (SEC and B1G) poach from the bottom 2. And I'm ...

Re: NCAA Avalanche players now want a piece of the $2 billion payout

No, it will go down rather than up. But with Harris in charge, we are done starting in 2025. It pisses me off. I would suggest no one give any more money to athletics unless you enjoy Tulane sports no matter the circumstances. So your sources claim Harris is the problem? I just don't believe that. ...

Don't be surprised if ECU has a healthy and hungry ace well rested and ready to go Sunday.

Let's make sure we're in that number.

Clearly Newman knows nothing of Conference Power Ratings. The SBC was a stronger conference last year, and figures to be again this year. The years of the AAC being the dominant G5 are gone. It’s a shell of what it was when we joined.

Re: AAC Tourney Thread - 2024

I haven’t been a big Jay Uhlman fan to date. But a play in yesterday’s game tells me he’s at least teaching some “advanced fundamentals.” I think it was the third inning with Haas on third and Lombardi at the plate. The batter hit a chopper right down the line and the runner from 3B, who was rightly...

Re: AAC Tourney Thread - 2024

It's just silly at this point. I would argue that Marget and Rass are overall better hitters but that’s semantics. I agree he should be moved up. But there’s also something to be said for the comfort level of the player. Remember Jackson has had a loooong road back. I could see something like Rass ...

Re: Adin Huntington transfers in

Our defense is going to be excellent. Newman is being negative about high school statistics that are irrelevant. He was first-team all-conference in a stronger conference than ours! And he played on a team that wasn't very good, but played against better competition week in and week out.

He's a LB from Austin Peay. I don't think I could ever go to a game involving his former school. Their cheers would have me spending too much time in the restroom. If you're a man and don't know what I'm talking about, just wait until your late 50's/early 60's. Welcome Sam. I hope you shine here an...

It's reasonable to acknowledge that the AAC is still new in its current form and the new schools need to grow the conference better. AAC schools are getting a good deal more money than those others so there's no excuse for not taking advantage. That being said, let's hope we're not still in the AAC...

Re: FIRE IZZIO IMMEDIATELY

I think you are probably right but with the exception of ECU, all of those teams play in a weaker conference. Do we really know if they have solid pitching based on their competition. Coastal plays in a better conference. Much better. Warren Nolan rates the SBC as 5th, the American as the 10th stro...

Bad draw to open with FAU. We’ll face their ace that shut us out 5-0 last time we faced him in late April. He got shellacked on Thursday and threw 101 pitches. We should be able to get to him early and often. Most aces bounce back from a bad outing against a powerful team with a dominant one agains...

At least 3 on the list had major arm issues. Some players come back from it others do not. Why take the gamble. But in the coaches defense Tulane baseball was not a destination exactly. We probably got what we could. Welch is nasty but will be drafted and out of here if he is eligible. Cehajic or h...
