Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

I think we should be careful to distinguish between CFP (college football playoff) games and NY6 bowl games. One is the ESPN 4 team invitational (army has no Shot of making this) and then there are the NY6 bowl games that will go to the highest ranked G5 (army has a shot at this). I also feel like ...

Re: 2019 FB Schedule

I think this was posted on another thread, but couldn't find it. This is a good look from our opposition: https://auburn.rivals.com/news/auburn-tigers-football-tulane-green-wave-preview We're catching them at a good spot in their season. After a season opening big intersectional P5 game vs Oregon, ...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

Houston-where did you see that? There was a good military player in just the last couple of years that was required to meet his commitment and couldn't got to the NFL right away as they had tightened things up on such waivers. McCallum and Robinson got them but that was long ago. I agree with D tha...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

A lot of UConn fans seem to think them moving to the BE will increase the BE payout from $4m per school to close to $6m. On top of that, they think having their own deal with SNY and playing an indy schedule full of P5s is going to somehow bring them in multi millions more per year, Best of luck to ...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

Ok , so does all this mean we’re gonna kick ass, or what . I'd be ok with consistently competitive right now. We've only had one winning season and a bowl appearance. Lets see if we can string together several bowl appearances. There's never been 3 in a row in my lifetime, so that's my goal for now...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

A perfect example of why a conference should choose their members based on more constant metrics than "winning football team". What was Louisville's football record again last year? Louisville was 2-10 last year, their first losing season in their last 10. and their third sub .500 since 1997. Let's...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

Obviously some don't understand that, when they're talking about the class being in the 50s/60s. It could be in the 40s and still not be a good class. Average score is a better indicator of class quality than numerical ranks is. That's all I'm saying, and some people don't get that.

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

This story kind of ignores the position UConn was put into when the Big East expanded to football. There is no doubt that UConn was screwed by the process. At the time, their choice was to put money into football and be able to compete with Miami, BC, Pitt, Va Tech, Syracuse, West Va. Who would not...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

win, My only point is, at the end of the day, look at the QUALITY of the recruits, not the QUANTITY, because the quantity just inflates the numerical ranking. It means nothing that our fellow conference mates are ranked 10 spots higher if the only reason is because they signed five extra players. I ...

Re: Louisiana Governor now hosting LSU players

McKeithen actively recruited players for LSU, and against us. At least that’s what then Tulane coach Jim Pittman told us. John Bell Edwards meeting with LSU players once having been recruited for a tour of the governor’s mansion is a very different thing. Edwards is polling about 38% right now for ...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

% of recruits with p5 (or Sec) offers would an interestin stat. And probably a pain in the butt to compile. But there is no doubt this recruit would be the highest in the last 5/10 years. No if, ands or buts about it. This would be BY FAR our best class since they started the composite in 2002. Unl...

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

The AAC cannot allow UConn football to remain solely for the purposes of perception, as the "best" G5 league should not be in a position to where it is attractive to keep UConn as a football-only member. The would solidify the AAC as being closer to the MWC and CUSA moreso than even adding USM or U...

Re: Graff leaving Tulane for Pels

Definitely would rather 99.5FM than either 100.3 or 1280. I live in Destrehan just 10 minutes past the airport and the signal for both 1280 and 100.3FM are awful.

And, 100.3 is geared heavily towards LSU/SEC. Would rather have our own station.

Re: UCONN board approves move back to Big East

Interesting point that was brought up in the article: A good portion of the current Big East are not original members. They'll be playing Butler, Creighton, Xavier and Marquette, not Pittsburgh, Boston College and Syracuse. Historically in basketball I'd think Memphis, Houston and Cincinnati carry m...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

I know it's still very much early in the game but I was wondering if this might end up being a historic draft class. In my short decade as a fan, the highest rated classes have been 2012 (83) and 2018 (70), would be incredible to see WF pull off a top 50/60 draft class one day......that'd be low p5...

Re: UCONN looking to leave AAC for Big East

One thing positive is, Tulane will get a nice little bump in revenue between the exit fee UConn pays and splitting the TV pie fewer ways. My understanding is the exit fee is $10M, but that's with a 27 month mandatory advance notice. UConn wants to be in the BE by the 2020-21 season, which probably m...

Re: UConn back to Big East?

Yes, if I were betting I'd bet big that they'll look west. That's been the direction of the AAC for a couple of years in Aresco's mind. Could it have been what finally pushed Uconn out? Could it be that it was reactive because he knew this was coming (the UConn to BE rumors have been serious for a ...

The UConn move would be helpful to WBB in the sense that teams would actually have a chance to win a conf title and the affiliated NCAA tournament bid.

Re: UConn back to Big East?

So who could we possibly invite to fill that slot? I know in the past they talked about UMass. I'd prefer Southern Miss to UMass, personally. Not for any specific benefit. I also thought there was talk of Wichita State bringing back football at some point.

Re: Wave lands a commitment from Justin Ibieta QB!!!!

Not talking necessarily as a starter. I just seem to remember someone from the football team, maybe a DB or a WR who ended up playing G on the basketball team after the football season was over? A bench player of course, but was on the team.
