Yep. Typical Tulane as we come back to tie it 9-9. This could end with the teams in the 30's.

This is a highly talented team that is being destroyed by poor pitching. Maybe it's time to invest in a good pitching coach? 10 runs on the road should win you the game, no questions asked.
How about we Invest in new pitchers or a Psychiatrist.oliveandblue wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 9:48 pm This is a highly talented team that is being destroyed by poor pitching. Maybe it's time to invest in a good pitching coach? 10 runs on the road should win you the game, no questions asked.
Can’t throw strikes no matter who coaches at this point.
Be proactive, being reactive is for losers..

Exactly. Sweep this road weekend series at Memphis and we'd be 28-12 and 10-2 in Conf. That's what matters.

If we sweep, you’re right, this loss will be no big deal. 3-1 week on the road is fine, but 2-2 against this level of competition would be a step back from the past couple weeks.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:46 amExactly. Not coaches’ fault, we have a pitching coach as HC and a good pitching coach in Latham.
Due to scholarship limitations and cost of tuition, Tulane will never have pitching depth. Can’t supplement the schollie guys with walk ons to develop so when schollie guys don’t work out they are doomed to avg to below avg pitching staff. Good schollie guys’ parents also don’t want to pay for remainder of tuition because noonebon full schollie.

Our HC was never a pitching coach either.

Bring back the fired pitching coach, the current one is a disaster .
President Fitts , B of A , it's put up or forever hold your peace time . Make Tulane ATHLETICS relevant and top 30 again .
I'm guessing that Bates was pulled because of the long top half of the 5th. However, in retrospect, he probably should have gone out for the 5th with a short leash...could not have been any worse.
I cannot imagine how demoralizing it must be for the team to endure this degree of suck from the pitching staff. It is one of the more frustrating things I have seen in my life as a Tulane fan - and that is saying a lot. Tulane doing Tulane things by blowing all momentum in the 1st inning against weak competition, and then doing a non-Tulane thing by battling back to tie with a huge 7 run inning- only to do the most Tulane of Tulane things by blowing it in the bottom half of the same inning.
No postseason would be a colossal waste of a special hitting team. And losses like this one are going to keep us out.

Hmm, LSU has zero tuition for in state players and just lost last night the Wally Pontiff Classic to a rpi 100+ ULALA team?Jaxwave wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:59 am Not coaches’ fault, we have a pitching coach as HC and a good pitching coach in Latham.

Hate to defend them but they have 7 pitchers out with injuries.Wave755 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 10:54 amHmm, LSU has zero tuition for in state players and just lost last night the Wally Pontiff Classic to a rpi 100+ ULALA team?Jaxwave wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:59 am Not coaches’ fault, we have a pitching coach as HC and a good pitching coach in Latham.

The best thing to come out of the game is that maybe Bates has found himself.

Actually HC was a recruiter at Vandy (and our current recruiter was a JC coach in WA). And we dismissed 3 scholarship pitchers this fall (all out of state kids) but kept 2 in-state walk-ons that throw in the low 80's. We also have a roster spot being taken by a local player with 2 AB's in a career but family funds athletic dept. So the question begs - is this a Tulane thing (giving away roster spots) or a HC/Recruiting Coordinator thing (trouble building a roster) . Building great college teams is a product of recognizing talent (recruiting), developing players (coaching) and putting players in a position to be successful. Outside of great hitting, and the Friday starter we are not seeing that.Jaxwave wrote: ↑Wed Apr 17, 2019 7:59 am Not coaches’ fault, we have a pitching coach as HC and a good pitching coach in Latham.
