Two years ago we lost 7-3 at their place in the first game of the Willie Fritz era. Our quarterbacking was terrible. Two years later we have a fifth year senior starting who steadily improved in this offense last year. Wake is starting a true freshman. The QB should be the difference and it's our home game. We better win!!!

Tough opener. I wish we’d had Wake later in the schedule. I expect us to improve as the season progresses. I just think Wake is still ahead of us in talent and depth. IMO Our defense is a question mark. We lost a lot of good players that will be hard to replace on that side of the ball.
Hope I’m wrong.
I see Wake winning by 6 (37-31).

31-28. Wave. Seems that number has been good to us in the past. I’ll take it again

This plus Tulane's defense probably won't be ready yet.

I’m sorry , this team just doesn’t scare me. Their fans and media are confident. It looks like an ambush to me. Like one of the millions we’ve been on the other side of.
Tulane 34
Wake 10

And not as close as the score.
Probably way off here , that’s the feeling I get. Glad I don’t gamble.

I think we're going to get better as the season progresses, but Wake's O=line versus our young front 7 scares me.

Wake Forest 34
Tulane 20

I hope I'm wrong.

A two point conversion with three minutes left puts us ahead and we hold off Wake to earn a victory in a sloppy game for both teams. A heady call by Coach Fritz, fully trusting his players and refusing to play for a tie in regulation.

Wake Forest 28
Tulane 29

Wake Forest wins 42- 27. Wave defense can’t get off the field. Offense doesn’t have the ball long enough.

Wave 35, Wake Forest 20

Banks and Encalade will begin right where they left off for our last home game of 2017 against Houston.

WF will open up the offense and Wake Forest is very suspect on the defensive side of the ball and will be playing a true freshman at quarterback on the road for the first game of his college career.

And, just like in 2016, we will hold our own with these guys in the trenches.

Tulane 38
Wake 24

I just don’t think Wake is all that good. I’m banking that their Freshman QB will make some mistakes and our offense will be where it left off at the end of last year. Roll Wave!!!!

If our DB's & DL play well, we'll win.
I will be looking to see what kind of execution our corners/nickle backs will have under Coach McCleskey. Will it be an aggressive man-to-man ball hawk (potentially sending anyone from anywhere), or mostly zone. I can see where we may start out aggressively showing man-to-man while trying to rattle Wake Forest's young QB.. This game could get interesting early, unlike two years ago when it got interesting never.

Disagree on wishing we had them later in the schedule. The game is here. They have a freshman QB starting, we have a senior. This is actually the BEST time for us to play them. Is our defense ready with all the turnover? Maybe, maybe not. But I’d rather have have a slightly inexperienced defense than a freshman QB starting on the road who last played at the mid tier of Carolina HS football.

Turnovers decide it. Tulane 31-27.
